February: books I liked 9 covers of queer books
I read such great lqbtqia+ books last month π€ β¦ it was a real pleasure.
Also heavy on the animals this time: 2 dogs on the covers, 1 lion shifter, 1 fox paw print. And I just started a book on fox shifters today β€οΈ.

Ok Iβm glad to see you also read the 2nd (I feel like itβs a different style β¦ kind of β¦ than the 1st) and want to watch the show π€
and hadnβt reverted back to brown until after his next knot deflated. βYou never have to lift a finger in bed if you donβt want to,β Emory whispered huskily in his ear. βI will happily service you for the rest of our lives.ββ
Picture 4:
"βI thinkβ¦maybe I might like not having to always be in control,β Cameron admitted. βIt would be nice to have nothing to worry about. I could just lie back and enjoy it.β
Emoryβs eyes had turned amber,
Cameronβs close proximity was making his blood race; meanwhile, his warmth and sweet smile made Emory want to wrap him up and hold him for the rest of eternity. The contrast in feelings and desires was making Emory almost lightheaded."
Picture 3:
"Over the course of their conversation, Cameron had moved closer and closer on Emoryβs lap. Everywhere their bodies were touching, even through their clothes, was buzzing.
No one had ever made Emory, or his lion, feel this way.
like the first day of summer.
He scented the air, trying to gauge where the smell was coming from without being too obvious. His lion was pacing around, causing a fluttering in his chest not unlike when he missed the last step on the stairs at his motherβs house.β

Picture 2:
βHe tried to concentrate on an email [β¦], but his attention was diverted by a familiar scent.
At least, it was sort of familiar. It reminded Emory of the air at Christopher's family's beach cottage. Salty yet fresh. It was also a little sweet and full of promise,
(including trans, demiboy, nonbinary, and so much more!) and right now I feel like lifting up and celebrating queer and trans joy is one of the many ways to keep fighting back.β
Doubting Fate is the first full length novel in D.C. Emersonβs ( @authordcemerson.bsky.social ) new Omegaverse Shifter series. They wrote about it: βOne of the big reasons Iβm so excited about delving into the Omegaverse genre is that it allows for so much room to explore and celebrate genders
- itβs just really lovely to read how caring other people support him.
Their physical interactions are written with a great focus on consent - and once more it shows how that only benefits how hot (-and necessary) consent is.
I enjoyed finding out how those two cute main characters and their inner animals get to know each other better and find their individual way to build a life as a couple.
When Cameron opens up about what he needs to feel safe in general and exploring more about how to feel joy in being a demiboy
Emory is a pansexual lion shifter with a big family who had to take over his passed fatherβs position as CEO - and is basically chronically overworked. Cameron is a gay octopus shifter who was adopted by two
wonderful men and is still affected by how other people treated him in the past.
Basically that could be the review β¦ but Iβll tell you a little more what I liked about this novel:
The characters are so well written in the bigger picture of why they behave how they do. As their personality traits unfold with the storyline it also gets clearer how fitting their inner animals are.

What could say it all about how well this is written:
Just when I started the ARC for Doubting Fate π¦π β¦ my library hold for The Long Game ππ¨π¦ by Rachel Reid came through. But Shane and Ilya had to wait just a little longer.

Last week was π Aromantic Awareness Week π
Aromance is experiencing little to no romantic attraction towards others.
Aromantic love doesnβt align with traditional romantic norms.
Aromance is a spectrum.
