I love 5's OST but tekken 3 set the bar too high in that regard imo

we need to bring them back
i think it might have been the NRS era MK-style story modes that killed the practice, possibly because they make the need to contextualize what people are fighting over redundant

I read the wiki too much as a teen haha, i don't need a lore video
like most fighting games it's completely insane, but tekken has this camp taste to it like metal gear where you don't know if the people making it are in on the joke or not, and that makes it delicious

I always have the tekken 5 iso ready to go because i swear to god every time I look up the intro on a whim on youtube it gets me in the mood to play a quick arcade mode
the people at namco in charge of making fighting game cinematics in the ps2 era will see the gates of heaven

I literally finished my tenth-ish rewatch and was about to gush about it. The visuals are incredible of course but the song might be my favorite thing they've done since Plastic Beach. 10/10 no notes

I spent most of yesterday playing board games with two separate friend groups so that didn't help I guess

The smoking gun for me was that their YCHs, where the whole point is to reuse your work, have lineart and highlights that serve the same function completely redrawn between pics even in parts that don't need to be adapted for the character.
They're blatantly using AI at least partially for rendering
