A European Defence Union is not to replace NATO, but to support NATO in Europe. And to make Europe ready to take responsibility on European defence.

NATO provides military might. The EU provides production power, European Defence Union builds European pillar of NATO.

Ukraine is fighting the war of freedom. They are defending Europe.

🇪🇺 will provide 90 bln EUR loan for 🇺🇦.

With Minister @FedorovMykhailo we discussed today the defence needs to be financed.

We are ready to move fast and meet Ukraine’s expectations.

✈️ We are all vulnerable to drone provocations & potential aggression. 

The EU Action Plan on Drone & Counter-Drone Security addresses evolving threats - strengthens Europe’s drone & air-defence ecosystem. 

Drone defence is evolving rapidly and the 🇪🇺 must set the pace.

No time to wait! We are moving ahead with 🇪🇺defence funding for #DefenceReadiness

After detailed analysis, today @ec.europa.eu approved 8 MSs #SAFE national plans for €38 bln of funding.

Next steps: other 11 MSs plans, Council decisions, loan agreements & 15% funding release!

More money alone is not the answer to all our issues; we need to look more deeply at what the European pillar of NATO and a European Defence Union could look like.
