It's working. I've gone to one Torchlight Parade in my 30-plus years here and am going to my second tonight only because it's on the waterfront. Honestly, I haven't been this excited to go downtown on a weekend night since the Seahawks won the Super Bowl.
I hesitate to wade in on such a nice day, but it was either this or another stupid aerial highway. I'm disappointed too but I get it. This is the politically pragmatic outcome. When you have even Cary Moon calling the park design “brilliant," we've done OK.

What a powder keg. Big No Kings protests nationwide. War in the Middle East. Minnesota lawmakers shot by a man impersonating a cop. And the milItary parade to honor the founding of the Army, which just happens to be the birthday of a president who admires authoritarian leaders.
JFC. A huge blow to democracy. Stunning but not shocking.
