@emmabolden.bsky.social on @slowdownshow.org today made me gasp. So good.

"It made no secret of separateness

between the earth where I stood
& the up where I'd been promised

a God lived. Iโ€™d like to ask not
where are you but why are you

not here. "

Wasn't trying to be a jerk... I just see every tour multiple times and he's never not played it.

They perform it at the end of every show and every person in the audience sings along. He does acknowledge Cash's version as surpassing the original recording, though.

Well, okay then, I guess you can go.

If one parties, then yes, Chicago on St Pats Day is a trip.

So have I seen a bird with clipped wing making affrighted broken circles in the air, vainly striving to escape the piratical hawks.

I'm just glad they're not going to try splitting it between two hotels again. That was not good.

I am just thinking about folks from out of town. When they hear Chicago, they think Loop. Hopefully the neighborhoods that are nearby will get some love for off-sites.

My husband works for the org that handles the race, and I know it's the 22nd this year, so I looked up next year's date and yep, it's the 21st...

Oops, AWP27. I know Chicago is great, and I've lived within 20 miles of it my whole life...but not only will you start on St Patrick's Day, but everyone will be leaving on Sunday AM when the Shamrock Shuffle, one of the biggest races of the year, shuts down loads of streets in the Loop.

Oh, boy, it's a good thing I wasn't there for @erinvachon.bsky.social to ask - I think 1962 would have made their head explode.

I checked a suitcase, so I could bring home two stacks of books. One stack of ones I've been anticipating, and one stack from authors and/or presses that are new to me!
