This wonβt end wellβfor Meta or for society.

This isnβt about fostering open dialogue; itβs about passing the buck. And itβs a decision that risks amplifying harm at a time when platforms like Meta should be leading the charge against disinformation.
The World Economic Forum has identified the spread of misinformation as the top global threat to humanity, even surpassing extreme weather events.
By abandoning independent fact-checkers, Meta is shirking its responsibility to mitigate this critical issue.
This move is not a step toward empowering the public or expanding free speech. Itβs a transparent attempt to offload the responsibility of managing misinformation onto the very users already overwhelmed by it.
Letβs be clear: free speech does not equate to enabling hate speech without accountability or consequence. Allowing harmful rhetoric to proliferate unchecked erodes trust, fuels division, and undermines the very fabric of informed public discourse.
Posted @withregram β’ @robbie_lockie How has X suddenly become Metaβs model for tackling the tsunami of misinformationβa platform that now permits unprecedented levels of hate speech under the guise of βfree speechβ?
