Usually I think of lower fidelity worlds where the mind fills in the blanks and creates odd attachment to the few details for things like this.
But if there's any game world that feels like coming home every time, for me that's Drangleic.

Like, to put it plainly, even if certain populations were genetically superior to others, that would still make eugenics bad, because humans are already like inbred dogs in terms of genetic diversity and you'd be making the problem so much worse, lol

Mara Wilson β’ @marawilson.bsky.social There's nothing thrilling about contrarianism. It's the most toddler shit possible. 2:45 AM β’ Mar 13, 2026
Anyone who's had their right to fully exist debated by some sweaty white dude who's just discovered Schopenhauer will surely feel this in their bones, but nice to have @marawilson.bsky.social articulate it so succinctly
There are no "devil's advocates." Just devils and dickheads

music by non musicians and singing by non singers is the real business. your friend singing "don't stop believin'" is 1000% realer and more true than anything journey ever sang into a mic
Screenshot of a Tweet by Merman_Melville from 1/25/2019 reading: Being a billionaire must be insane. You can buy new teeth, new skin. All your chairs cost 20,000 dollars and weigh 2,000 pounds. Your life is just a series of your own preferences. In terms of cognitive impairment it's probably like being kicked in the head by a horse every day

Hey, I know the world is a lot right now, but it's Hugo (and Locus Award) nomination season, so don't forget to give a push to the projects and stories you loved in 2025. Maybe even give a glance to my own "Kaiju Agonistes:"

Two unmarked grey cargo vans with US flag printed caskets with dead troops killed in another illegal war in the middle east stacked inside kind of haphazardly and arguably disrespectfulfully
Pst hey kid, you wanna see the world?

I think about this a lot.
I am old enough to remember the vitriol directed at random humanities scholars' work complaining about the totalizing tendencies of capitalism to corrupt, colonize, or co-opt everything. I also lived long enough to read long term coverage of the literal attempt to privatize thinking in the newspaper
Frozen Shade, hands down.
My personal favorite is Wayward Soul but IDK how many people would be interested in that one.
I am busy cleaning up scans of original Magic the Gathering artwork for the highest resolution prints I've ever offered. These will all be available at Magic Con, Las Vegas. Are there any other images that you'd like to see a print of? β¨π¨οΈβ¨
Oh, yeah, if you're wondering why "wheels" are such a prominent conceptual metaphor in European and Indian language and culture, it's because the original Indo-Europeans were a nomadic culture who lived in horse-drawn wagons
They even buried their dead in wagons

Been mulling this one over, since "style" is difficult for me to define
The definition mentioned in the podcast, which happens to coincide with Virginia Tufte's (and Le Guin's) idea that style is the accumulation of word after word

'Growth'. Art of a dryad who is a part of her tree, in spring. She wears a flower crown. Watercolor and colored pencil.
'Dream'. A naiad that looks very much like water, underwater with swirling weeds all around. Her hands are near her heart, and her expression is dreamy. Done with watercolor, colored pencil, and ink.
Rage. Volcano goddess who looks like lava rising from the volcano with billowing smoke all around. Watercolor, colored pencil, and gouache.
'Awakening'. Black Fae with long green locks and a hopeful expression, looking directly at the viewer, with willow branches gently blowing in the breeze. There are buttercups and yellow butterflies in her hair, with swirling white line art representing their life and movement. Made with colored pencil, watercolor, and white ink.
In 2020, I started this art series with the intention of making an art book about nature spirits, then I pivoted to making an oracle deck. Now I realize it's going to be necessary to go back to the original plan.
