During #NeuronalDifferentiation, #organelles dramatically reorganize. #Microtubules are essential tracks for transport. But are they just highways, or can they instruct organelle behavior? Are tubulin modifications a regulatory code that guides organelle position or function? 1/9
It's such an honor to be featured in @jcb.org The Year in Cell Biology 2025 Collection!! π€©
Huge thanks to my amazing PI @nanigrotjahn.bsky.social and my wonderful lab mate @nitishdua.bsky.social for bringing the hard copy of the magazine back from #cellbio1025 for me. It truly made my day! π₯°
Attending #CellBio2025? Come see the Cohen Lab - Monday will be a busy day for us, including my theatrical debut in WICB "Scripts of Success" skits!
1/5: New preprint: Cytokines control the physical state of immune tissue. www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...
Unlike structured organs (heart, liver), immune tissue can shapeshift to form functional structures like germinal centers (GCs), tertiary lymphoid organs, granulomas, etc.
It was great to finish off #UNCResearchWeek by seeing Sherry Hsuβs beautiful image on display in Bondurant Hall! π¬π¬π¬
@chrisho.bsky.social discovered exciting roles for Coro1A in netrin-dependent neuronal morphogenesis. A fun foray into a new-to-us actin regulator.

Huge shoutouts to coauthors Elliot, @klukasik.bsky.social, @sherryhsu.bsky.social, Ellen, Aneri, and Dr.Brenda Temple
for all their hard work and effort!
Iβm excited to share that my PhD work is out in @jcb.org! Big thanks to my amazing mentor @stephgupton.bsky.social and inspiring collaborator @coronin.bsky.social!!!!
Two weeks left to apply for this year's Physiology Course! We are looking forward to another exciting summer π¬π¦βοΈ
Do you love #organelles? If so, vote for Cohen Lab member Sherry Hsuβs Dino-organelles in the plasmidsaurus vote below!
I am super excited to share our article addressing a longstanding question in neurobiology: how CaΒ²βΊ signaling cascades initiated at dendritic spines operate at a distance. Check it out here: authors.elsevier.com/sd/article/S... @cp-cell.bsky.social.
Excited to be at #CellBio2024! Today, I'll be presenting my work exploring how the actin binding proteins and E3 ubiquitin ligases regulate neuronal morphogenesis. I'll be at poster board 40 and giving a teaser talk at 10:45 in Room 33B. Come say hi, if you love neurons, cytoskeleton or ubiquitin!
2024 Cell Biology of the Neuron GRC was rated one of the best Gordon conferences by attendees. Next stop is Italy (2026) chaired by @rkuruvi1.bsky.social & Gipi Schiavo. @barrlab.bsky.social and I will chair one after that. Attendance capped further, so don't miss it!

Looking for the latest and greatest single particle tracking software. Please send your recommendations.
Cohen lab will be well represented at #CellBio2024! If you love #Organelles, #MembraneContactSites, and/or #Neurons and #Astrocytes, please come say hello!
I am so happy to see this finally published! Being able to manipulate Hortaea genetically has been a dream since I was a postdoc, and now it is a reality! This was possible thanks to the @mblscience.bsky.social Whitman Fellowship, which let me spend my summer studying this amazing yeast.
Thank you! Glad to join the π΅
