they should make a movie series about how itβs irresponsible to use technology to mess with the natural order of things for profit
βJust complyβ was once criticized as authoritarian, and masks framed as symbols of control. The same behaviors are now described as reasonable and necessary.
This was never really about masks or obedience. Itβs always been about who holds authority and power, and who is expected to comply.
We really are in the upside down

By now you've seen a dozen headlines about a dubious COVID report from the Alberta government that's full of junk science.

John Toogood teaching award
Life highlight - Canadian Society of Allergy and Clinical Immunology John Toogood teaching award. Humbled by amazing residents everyday. So honoured to receive this one!
ME: So did you go to a Hivey League school lol?
MY ALLERGIST: Get out.
It was only this year, over 4 years after the initial bombardment, where I felt able to talk about what happened at that time, and only then with colleagues that were there too.
I still can't really talk to my parents and other non-medical people, because they often still don't get it.
Allergist - make sure there is some exposure to milk protein (baked is fine!) because prolonged exposure can precipitate allergy and thatβs suboptimal!
Have you heard of this theory before? Let me know what you think!

The immune system tries to fight this, and unfortunately as a side effect, there is development of inflammation. Chronic tissue inflammation then facilitates colonization by opportunistic pathogens. It's a vicious cycle of barrier damage and chronic inflammation.
The development of leaky epithelial barriers then leads to microbial dysbiosis (deserves own post), and migration of commensal bacteria to areas where they shouldn't be.
Epithelial cells make up the lining of our organs - skin, nose, lungs, stomach, etc. The theory is that environmental factors, like microplastics, detergents, or food emulsifiers (just to name a few everyday exposures!) can disrupt the epithelial barrier of the skin, nose, lungs, and gut.
Why we have allergies - a theory called βepithelial barrier theoryβ
A frequently asked q - why are allergies more common?
One theory is called the β barrier hypothesisβ it suggests that epithelial barrier dysfunction can result in allergy development
