Did someone say Butterfriday? No, they didn't, but here are two views of owl butterflies from Costa Rica. Normally when they perch, these large butterflies insist on keeping their wings closed to utilize their camouflage and mimicry, but the one in photo 2 was being lazy, apparently.
What an incredible + RARE sky around 8:30a.
These photos by Chris Hager and Luke Fisher show super impressive display of atmospheric optics, including bright sun dogs on either side of the sun along with halos and arcs above. They form as sunlight passes thru ice crystals in high clouds.
i saw one sun dog (manassas, ~8:20) and thought *that* was exciting, but holy moly these pics are amazing

A couple of arthropods out on the sand in the evening. I went for one very short stroll at night while in Mexico. Would have loved to spend more time seeing what comes out at night.

Respectfully, eat shit. Those kids were expelled, arrested, and targeted relentlessly by their school administrations with the specific goal of preventing further protest. Eighteen year old kids were held down and maced by campus security, hit point blank with tear gas canisters by riot cops.
We used ChatGPT to kill grants in this country, and to kill schoolgirls in Iran.

I just had to pay for some very expensive tests for my cat Merlin so if anyone is feeling generous and wants to pick up some of my paper insect templates I'd greatly appreciate it! πͺ²

Lateral view of the magnificent rostrum of a Curculio caryatrypes, the greater chestnut weevil. This one was collected in 1906, just as the chestnut blight was racing west from its introduction point in NY.

Bugguide photo of a "Thief weevil" (Attelabidae: Pterocolus sp) by user Metrioptera. He is a jolly iridescent turquoise and sort of rectangular in shape, with an unusually wide stance.
let's all take a moment to consider the Thief Weevil and his outrageous pantaloons
why was he working out without his protective jean jacket ???
Three panel comic. Panel 1: three witches stand around a cauldron while one of them stirs. Panel 2: one of the witches adds a scoop of pre workout into the pot. Panel 3: the three witches are getting absolutely shredded in the gym.

comic panel 1: back view of a wolf puppy looking out over a field at sunset, wolf pupy is saying "looks like my work here is done" panel 2: wolf pupy continues "or hasn't started yet" panel 3: front view of the wolf puppy now, wolf pupy says "either way i'm leaving." panel 4: in this panel the wolf puppy is now gone, leaving behind a scenic view of the field landscape at night lit only by the moon and stars. a weak attempt at deep and meaningful imagery that is completely unearned.

What Democrats will need to make clear is that a driverβs license by itself will not be valid for purposes of voting ID. This legislation is different from how people (wrongly) believe it will work.
