Christina Robertson’s portrait of Lady Rolle in ermine at Westminster Abbey for William IV Coronation. Looking back over her shoulder, a pose that became Christina’s signature style. RA 307 in 1834
J.M.W Turner from V&A Collection. St Michael’s Mount Cornwall. Ships, fishing boats and fishing folk Royal Academy exhibit 317 in 1834
Turner has celebrity status in Edinburgh this month. Dublin watercolour collection attracting 1000s of people queuing for hours. Magnificent!😍. His 1834 oil was in RA beside contemporary, now forgotten, Scottish portraitist Christina Robertson. Last day for 99p e-book about her life. amzn.to/4f7o5ir
Writers. Last handful of tickets might go before the end of January. Don’t miss this. Do come! 😍
Another picture from the edge of Edinburgh’s Christmas market. Not my thing tbh but the lights are pretty. Behind my head the snow clouds are building for tomorrow!
What was it? It took me 15 years to persevere with Wolf Hall - a masterclass and one of my favourite books.
Oh wow! Now I have to find a way to to watch him next year 🤩
That’s great news Sam 😊

Surely Edinburgh has a genius in charge of the Christmas lighting 😢
Just blocked and reported too 🙄
Ta Prohm is Angkor Wat’s famous 12thC temple engulfed by trees! Very eerie!
Welcome to 🦋! Only just noticed you do Emma Orchard’s gorgeous covers. She was one of our Edinburgh Women’s Fiction Festival this year and I really enjoyed meeting her 😍
How funny! Mine are generally male orthopaedic surgeons!
Luang Prabang - amazing place - UNESCO World Heritage Site 🤩
The Mekong River in Laos is surrounded be hills. Happy to have glimpsed an elephant taking his morning dip then this cave full of thousands of Budhas was cool
Congratulations.! 🥂Love a book about an artist. It’s been waiting on my Kindle for too long. Diving in - captured immediately 😍 Reading on the banks of Mekong Well in the wild! 😜
Very jealous 😍
Very jealous 😊
A very favourite book 😍
Looks like a bloke’s bum to me 🤷🏻♀️
View of the Mekong River through the riverside trees - Thailand
Tree adds more drama to this Thai side Mekong view - gorgeous! 😎 Think there are 2 hornet nests in the tree though - SE Asian hornet experiences did not go well 😬 🐝
Singapore is a special place for me. We lived in Vietnam in the early 1990s when it was both beautiful and short on good hospital care. Lucky to deliver my first baby here 32 years ago. My soul is happy in 27 degrees at night. Love Asian food 🤩
Exciting 😊
Even on here you follow back some guy who doesn’t look like a BOT and they are straight to DMs. FFS this is a Scottish writing almost Grannie. I don’t want unsolicited help with my book and my interactions depend on you saying something interesting here 🤨 🙄
Tommy too 💕🐾
