Reaching net zero by 2050 ‘cheaper for UK than one fossil fuel crisis’
Climate change committee finds move to renewable energy would also bring health, economic and security benefits
Our dependency on fossil fuels makes us vulnerable. Wars across the world are pushing up prices for households in the UK.
Why keep waiting for the next crisis? We need to transition to clean power as fast as we can to protect people and our economy.

Sandstone building in the west end of Glasgow. Left hand side it says "200", along the bottom you can see the top of a boarded up window and door with flyers (including "doss", the main thing though is that where once this sign said "FUTURE SHOCK", the letters have fallen away and all that is left is U R HO

[Sigh] not this shit again. The biggest issue that Alex Cole-Hamilton has is that he's a wee fucking fanny. If he truly cared about the DARK UNDERBELLY OF NATIONALISM, he'd be critical of his fellow British nationalists. That he isn't tells you that he is not to be trusted

Londoners maybe don't understand how huge this is because they've got so many stations.
Glasgow has two and they're not set up to be easily interchangeable - Central goes everywhere south, Queen Street everywhere north.

This fire is wild. We saw it around 4pm and it was just a wee bit of smoke. This was maybe 5pm and didn't seem too bad. Hoping nobody hurt and obviously tragic what's happened to the buildings

NHS weaponised my gay daughter
After refusing to undress in front of a trans doctor, the nurse at the centre of Britain’s gender debate talks to Celia Walden about why she’s not giving up
The Sunday Telegraph8 Mar 2026Sandie Peggie
Sandie Peggie is telling me about JK Rowling’s 60th birthday party. “I was so happy to be invited,” she says of the lavish bash, which was reportedly held at the Harry Potter creator’s Perthshire estate in Scotland last November. “Actually, we were invited as a family, so I went with my husband and both my daughters. There were a lot of famous people there,” she goes on, “and my husband was a bit dumbstruck.”
The two women didn’t get much of a chance to talk, which was to be expected. They had been in contact for some time prior to the party, however. “She really is a great figure. A very strong woman, and absolutely lovely. Her support has meant so much to me.”
If you’re wondering what an NHS nurse from Kirkcaldy was doing at such a star-studded event, you’ve presumably been trapped under something heavy for the past year. Right now, 52-year-old Peggie might well be Britain’s most famous nurse.
Peggie is a heroine to some – Rowling included – for calling out the imposition of gender identity ideology in the workplace. To others, she is a “bigoted transphobe”.
Fairly sure your own words did that...
Says in this piece that Sandie Peggie, who was also shown to have said a lot of racist stuff, is a hero to JK Rowling
