May as well keep the name. Classical music, high school education, sport, cats, community, stuff, politics of the mostly local kind.

The reality of the Victoria Pass is that the Coalition Government - all 12 years of it, only paid lip service to replacing Victoria Pass and decided to suggest something that was never going to happen.

Bevan Shields, as usual, is pushing a blatantly pro-Coalition position with his biased and fallacy filled article about the Victoria Pass debacle.
1. It was Dominic Perrottet who declared that the fanciful tunnel idea was unlikely to happen. Labor just confirmed it.

Guardian Australia?
More like Guardian Sydney.

Mali lost me with the whole Randa Abdel-Fattah stuff. Big mistake

Seems relevant - all news organisations, including public broadcasters, don't care what you think about their programs. They only care about your eyeballs. Hatewatching a program is identical to being a fanboi of it. They die when eyeballs stop.

Agreed, my experience of the Greens between 2010 and 2015 in NSW were along those lines.

What I learned from the experience is that the ALP, as an organisation, has a huge issue at a structural level. How on earth can they attract new members when they branch system is so out of date and frankly alienating. We know the Libs are a shambles, but are Labor much better?

It was VERY tempting.

I quit for more than just local reasons. Albanese is a major disappointment. The SA and NSW Premiers are troglodytes - especially Minns. Our government's treatment of writers and the State Library has been objectively worse than what they copped from the Liberals.
Never going back.

The irony was that after I wrote the resignation email, we headed out last Saturday night to go to the Dandenong Ramadan Night Markets. There were plenty of Labor politicians there. Jacinta Allan was in town, so there was the state MP, councillors, the Mayor. Dandenong Labor out in force!

I wrote my resignation email last Saturday. I lasted 9 months as a member of Victorian Labor. In that time, though, I got lots of emails inviting me to fundraisers. One offer for a Zoom call for new members. Otherwise, nothing. No acknowledgment for apologies I sent.
It's not a welcoming group.

I realised then my mistake. No Gen X members at all. Virtually no-one under the age of 65. A shambles of a branch where no local members, councillors would seemingly be bothered to attend. (I did notice how many times local members were an apology in meeting agendas).
I have never been back. (4/ )

I saw a weird half of the room full of boomers, who clearly knew each other and were not welcoming at all. I had no idea if they were other members, there was no signage, no Labor politicians or people who looked like staffers. Then someone came over and asked, anxiously, if I was the guest speaker.

Branch meetings were often at an inconvenient early evening time mid week at the same venue - a run-down gambling venue run by the RSL. I eventually had the opportunity to attend a meeting. I turned up in my work clothes - a jacket, business shirt and trousers. (2/ )

In the aftermath of the Federal Election last year, I made the decision to join the ALP. After all, I had been volunteering to help women candidates during the last few elections.
I was willing to turn up to branch meetings, be a part of things.
But it wasn't that easy. (1/ )

Not enough attention is given to the fact that Trump frequently responds to rape / sexual assault allegations by stating that the woman in question was not attractive enough for him to assault.

Excellent analysis here of the lack of representation on recordings.

If the Australian Women's Cricket team played three home tests each season, imagine how powerful and dominant they would be.

Of course the organisation that would give that fuckwit a contract would lie about Jackie O’Neill’s departure.

Michael Koziol. Once a fuckwit, always a fuckwit. Imagine being someone who loves Kyle Sandilands.
Koziol, as ever, is an unpolished turd.

Looking forward to the Bahrain Grand Prix on 12 April.

Should add a new twist to the Netflix series 'Formula 1: Drive to Survive'.

Of course it was "leaked" to Aaron Patrick, one of the most Liberal friendly journalists of all, who has directed all of this on Dutton's head.
That way, the party can get the message out without it being messy.

Yep, he didn’t manage to wrestle with the factions, which was a pity. I would love it if the millennials and even Gen Zs shake some trees and run as good candidates, despite the old party battles. I am weirdly optimistic that that may happen

Ha, well, there is that. My view is that if Cate Faehrmann or someone similar was Federal Leader, their popularity numbers might double. But that will never happen.
