I want you. All of you. Your flaws. Your mistakes.
She wasn’t looking for a knight, she was looking for a sword.
most of the great triumphs and tragedies of history are caused , not by people being fundamentally good or fundamentally bad , but by people being fundamentally people
But the wolf… The wolf only needs enough luck to find you once.
((Report it to the devs. This is ABSOLUTELY not working as intended unless they've changed their entire approach to the site. Letting them know an account you don't follow is on your following feed without being rebleated is something they need data on.))
Take the damned pain relievers in whatever fashion you have them, O Sufferer; there is no nobility in needless suffering. Or something.
[Oh and, just, how her expression changed for juuust a moment at "that is my talent... survive." - she can relate. She's a living form of survivorship bias among her direct alternates.]
If you'd like to tell me, I'd like to listen.
[A pause]
Oh, yeah. Call me Clive.
It's clear that you see your subordinates as individuals, not simple objects to be manipulated on the field and sacrificed willy-nilly. From what I can tell, you've more than earned their loyalty.
Though, I'd not be surprised if you going in solo worries them sometimes.
Basically, even though I made it out of the cult nonsense basically on my own, I've only gotten so stable with the help of people I now treasure.
I do think you've got a good set of ideals on you, though, before I forget to mention it. War sucks, but it sucks less when you're not a mere tool.
I appreciate it. I'm pretty lucky to have gotten involved with the people I did early on. I'd be a whole lot less reasonable if I'd not gotten to be around reasonable people - I'm a natural trickster, and I have a tendency to either over-restrict or go wild, so.
[She laughs a little]
That alone shows me you're someone that I'd have a hard time holding contempt for, even if you were trying to kill *me*.
I was a child soldier, kidnapped, made to kill to survive, so I respect people automatically when they offer their subordinates a *choice*, and respect whatever they respond.
[She then laughs a little.]
Look at me up on my soap box. It doesn't matter, really, what I think. I'm a war criminal, so.
[a vague, dismissive wave]
Either way though, the fact that consent mattered to you, that their bodily autonomy was taken into account and not denied them?
to feel too much needless harm was done but that doesn't change the fact that someone being attacked with intent to kill has every right to kill back. No one acts completely ethically when faced with the mass death of themselves and their people. No one.
So, you won't be condemned for living by me.
I won't judge you terrible for trying to survive. I have no doubt your side did war crimes, but that's common of both sides, and you were fighting to *exist*.
All beings have a right to do what is required to survive. People of course have a right to be mad at them, to believe they went too far,++
You had me convinced that I was nothing.
Yet now that I am fierce and sharp,
you insist on crying out my name?
*in a mr beast voice* This Week We Are Giving My Best Friends A Visceral Ammount Of Psychic Damage Right To Their Prefrontal Cortex!
[She perks up at the mention of demons, but says about it at the moment.]
If you're in a position where you've gotta go that far in modifying their biology, you and your people have had a tough time of it all, huh?
Ya don't normally need super soldiers to protect from simple common infantry, so...
I'm duly impressed! It sounds like you work on a large scale when you take jobs. I'm always impressed when people manage large-scale protection, since I know just from some command roles in the past that even modest sized scale stuff can be tricky.
Your guard?
[Oh she starts to clap, letting out an impressed whistle.]
Now that's a big fella! Also armed to the teeth.
I'm far from an expert on mech suits, but this looks like you can do *serious* damage.
And you designed and built this yourself?
Oho, now that is definitely big-guns tech. And impressive in general! I'm fairly low-tech.
I mostly work with pokemon, knives, chakram, and poisons. Also learning to use lances. More of a "Don't get hit" sort. Death-by-a-thousand-cuts or poison, and made of paper, www.

Warm baths are... I am too cosy to think of a suitable word. They're just great.
Like a case of "We want to rehabitate this place, but also right now it's crawling with undead." so airbombing kind of goes against the end desires.
Or there was an expectation of survivors...
Anyway, I'm overthinking considering I lack pertinent details.
I mean, sounds like the machine puts you on the same level as a powerhouse, so I'd count it. But I get what you're saying - you're using tools, not a super-powered space-time punch-master.
I feel like at that point you're better off just blowing the city up... But I guess maybe it was a job?
((Oh absolutely agreed! I've just had plans to make an all grown up version of Kurt's daughter for Literal Years now. Since I think 2022-2023.))
My condolences on having to have so many fucked up experiences that you're so familiar with the undead. Even when you're a power-house, they're deeply unpleasant to face.
Yeah my main defense is I have a bigass bird to fly away on, and if I know for 100% certain it's not contagious, I can drop explosives from above. But otherwise I'm better off as a scout from above.
Weak undead are usually fine in small or medium numbers, but only if I'm in a group.
((Sees a mention of Kurt's Granddaughter.
Will not...
Make account...
Life is crazy...
Health is crazy...
Resist...))
I live,
I live,
I live
