today I learned that there's a German word for making up a German word for a concept.
the term for compound word construction in German is 'Komposita'.
my favorite thing about that term is that it is not compound.

I collect enthusiast (name-brand, but under $200) pocketknives and enjoy carrying, playing with, and maintaining them. But when I have to cut stuff I use a $10 utility knife and a disposable blade.
When camping I carry two knives, one of which is for lending to people who want to borrow my knife.
