I thought I was hallucinating, as literal Israeli propaganda presented itself across a YouTube video.
I'm not a Bible scholar, but I suspect it doesn't say to "RISE AND ACT FIRST" in the context of killing innocent people.

Musk chose to enter the political sphere and aggressively anchor his ship to Trump - campaign contributions, DOGE, the Tesla sales-pitch on the White House lawn, the list goes on.
Given the harm he's caused, public perception must continue to shame those who associate with him/his products.
In the not-so-distant future, historians will look back on this - shaking their heads in disbelief - at how US citizens enabled a government that chose the world's richest man(!) - with no experience in government(!!) - to dismantle it from within under the guise of efficiency(!!!).
Mind boggling
The attack on Truth™️ has been quite intentional. To unequivocally bash DEI/praise meritocracy and then make appointments that reflect sycophancy and nepotism = the most unqualified administration in modern history 😟
Continually resisting the "hypocrite bizarro world" with Truth™️ is all that's left

Why invest in a country whose government is unpredictable, vindictive, and extortionary towards its allies?
If isolationism is a goal of the US government, let them have it - and sadly as a result, Americans will need to feel the impact of that choice.

Some basic facts about the world:
➡️The American President is a convicted felon, and is unsurprisingly acting like one after two weeks in office
➡️Tariffs most often lead to increased costs to the consumers of the country imposing the tariffs
➡️Canada will never (never) join the US
For all the conspiracy theories that grabbed headlines, such as Haitians eating pets and the caravans of illegal immigrants from mental institutions crossing over the border - there are now actual convicted criminals being put back on the streets.
And it's Day 1.
So let me get this straight - the people who assaulted police, damaged property, and were lawfully convicted for their crimes - are now going to receive... pardons, by the leader of a party who claims to support... law and order?
Guess they weren't antifa or FBI operatives, afterall.
The first Trump term was wall-to-wall coverage of all the abnormal and damaging things he said and did.
The second term hasn't even started and mainstream media have capitulated to a level where upcoming abnormal and damaging things - of which there will be many - will be spun to seem normal 🤷♂️
Everything in these hearings is so painfully performative.
Senators ask their questions, nominees say enough to feign competence, media reports with click-bait headlines, and no one is wiser.
The motivation behind these picks has been clear from day one - complete and total obedience to Trump.
Happy New Year, Bluesky community. My hope for 2025 is that it turns out to be the opposite of 2024 and brings the world more peace/less war, more love/less hatred, more freedom/less oppression, more democracy/less autocracy.

I don't think anyone is ready for the full-on assault coming once he's inaugurated. There was a story of something stupid he said almost every day in his last term. Feels like there will actually be things worth covering this time (i.e., the breakdown of institutions) but there will be so much of it
The thing Canadians are most unhappy about - besides the onset of winter - is that they now have to deal with this type of childish arrogance that their southern neighbors have elevated by electing this wannabe-despot.
As a Canadian living abroad, I happily brag about our values and lifestyle and general inclusivity.
Yet watching conservative movements across the world sink into an embrace of extremism - and seeing that Canada is not immune - is terrifying.
Conservatism and extremism do not have to be linked.

Average people with moral conscience care about doing what's "right" - and while there is no disputing the tragedy of 7 October, it does not warrant the tens of thousands of lives now lost because of Israel's unlawful retribution. And taking a stance to preserve life is not anti-Semitic - it's human
I'll be looking for connections and conversations that are productively working to make the world a better and safer place for everyone.
And I may occasionally try to dabble in science and ice hockey, too.
