I made a map of 3.4 million Bluesky users - see if you can find yourself!

I've seen some similar projects, but IMO this seems to better capture some of the fine-grained detail

Merry Christmas! This is your yearly reminder that mistletoes, uniquely among ALL known multicellular life, do not have working mitochondria. What the fuck? Biology is fake.
Made a site comparing the sizes of living things :)
The great Julius Csotonyi spent 5 months painting over 60 illustrations for the site, no ai used

I wanted dinner recommendations so I scraped 13,000+ London restaurants and accidentally discovered Google Maps is running a shadow economy. Anyway here's a dashboard and a political economy thesis: open.substack.com/pub/laurenle...

Wat leuk! Zijn er inhoudelijke verschillen tussen de nederlandse en engelse versies?
For Scientific Americanβs 180th birthday, weβve updated a classic graphic comparing different forms of animal locomotion, first published in this magazine in 1973.
Other features include a map of all Cineville cinemas, ticket links, an add to calendar button, and links to IMDb and Letterboxd. It currently has the Cineville programme for the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and Sweden. I build this because I wanted to use it, but maybe it's useful to more people.
I made a website! It's an alternative interface for Cineville with an interactive schedule of movie showtimes, a list of movies on selected location(s) and day, and you can use it to pin and share selected shows.

We are alarmed by reports that Germany is on the verge of a catastrophic about-face, reversing its longstanding and principled opposition to the EUβs Chat Control proposal which, if passed, could spell the end of the right to privacy in Europe. signal.org/blog/pdfs/ge...
The Danish Presidency is pushing a dangerous proposal in the EU that would allow the government to scan all our private communications. www.eff.org/deeplinks/2...
In early 2025, beaver activity in the Brdy Protected Landscape Area, Czech Republic, contributed to the restoration of a wetland ecosystem. A family of beavers constructed a series of dams that coincidentally accomplished environmental goals of the Czech government, which had delayed its proposed project since 2018 for bureaucratic and financial reasons. The beaver-built dams saved the Czech government approximately US$1.2 million,
imagine if a family of beavers randomly showed up right now and finished whatever thing you've been putting off
Iβm Not a Robot, a game about solving CAPTCHAs, is out now!

Watching Ocean with DavidΒ Attenborough, Ponyo and Ikiru in Filmhuis Lumen yesterday was certainly an eclectic combination, but surprisingly kind of fitting as well?
In 2020 someone installed plaques on benches in Calgaryβs Bowmont Park commemorating events that didnβt happen. The city removed them but re-installed them after locals protested. How could you not want these?

Wow that is a long list! I've just added one video from it to the site, and I might add some more in the future.

That website is really interesting! I just added a couple of videos from it to cabview.net as well!
thanks! I'll check it out
Thanks for the useful video! One thing I've struggled with using grid auto-fit and auto-fill is how to come up with an accurate sizes attribute for responsive images inside such a grid
My interview with David Lynch - where we talk about his ideas and film techniques - is back on the BBC after nearly 25 years.

Also, I recently made the site installable as a home screen app, but it still looks best on larger screens.
