Thanks very much π
Thanks very much π
Another reprocess of old data using PixInsight. This is roughly 5hrs on the Iris Nebula, (also known as NGC 7023 and Caldwell 4) and is a bright reflection nebula in the constellation Cepheus.
Reprocessed my 5 hours on the Rosette Nebula using PixInsight, and what a difference it's made in pulling out the surrounding dust! 5 hours in total on this winter gem - Orientated to show the skull π
5 hours captured of the Whirlpool Galaxy, using the newt. Captured in NINA, stacked in APP and processed in PixInsight.

This is 6 hours of data on the Needle Galaxy. Really pleased how this turned out, especially with a bright moon, and no filters! Imaged with the newt using NINA, stacked in APP and processed in PixInsight

Thank you π
Ooh, I can't wait to see how it turns out! The sky looks absolutely beautiful tonight, doesn't it?!
M81/M82 and lots of other tiny galaxies. 6 hours of data captured in N.I.N.A. This is the best I can do, but I'm happy with the detail. I would like to double the time on it if I can π

So, here is my first image using N.I.N.A. Whilst it's not perfect, (no pixel peepers please π) it's a success for me. I learned a lot at astro camp from the help of others, and I got everything working at home, and captured an image! This is 3.75 hours on the Rosette Nebula.
Wow, nice! A 14" Meade's view of Jupiter with Ganymeade transiting is what got me hooked in this hobby. Back in 2016, my dad and I visited an outreach evening, and that's where it all started
Thanks. Sometimes, I find it hard to get a good balance with the colour. The colour looks darker on a mobile device. Looks much better on my laptop screen π
A big ole waxing gibbous moon, captured in rgb, with saturation boosted to show off some colour π

My favourite area of our beautiful moon. Copernicus crater just blows my mind, with its detail in the waxing gibbous phase. To it's right is Eratosthenes crater and the Apennine mountains.
Lovely dust lanes!
I love seeing all the new blooms! My hydrangeas are well on their way with this barmy weather!
I love this!
Another beautiful area of the Northern Hemisphere, showing off what is The North American Nebula and Pelican Nebula. This is found in constellation of Cygnus the Swan. I absolutely love imaging from this patch, in the summer/autumn months. This is just 2.5 hours with an OSC camera #269cprotec
This is Messier 3 - a globular star cluster, thought to be made up of 500,000 stars! Imaged from my garden in Bortle 5 skies, with the newtonian.
#altairastro #269cprotec #astrophotography #stars #universe
It was beautiful for a few hours - clouded over and damp again by 1030 π
Thanks! Starless images are great for seeing the fainter detail that stars would otherwise disguise
Yes, simple is often, more the beauty of it, I think. I need to do more visual. It's easy to get lost in photography and forget that it's so much more .
I am absolutely thrilled to be featuring in this amazing book, with other astrophotographers and professionals πCheck out more about it here...

Happy 5 years! These are beautiful compositions
It's such a lovely area of sky. I stood outside earlier, telling my 11 year old what was what. So clear here tonight. I've not seen the stars in a long time β¨οΈ
Thats lovely. Yeah, I know now that I'm more experienced, that I need more. Its an area I want to visit again
Thanks! This image was my first realisation of more data means better colour
The Elephant Trunk Nebula taken on Christmas Eve 2020. Oodles of gas and dust in this region of Cepheus. 3 hours well spent, using the quad band filter. I was still learning the art of processing, so don't zoom in too much on them π

A much wider field of The Whirlpool Galaxy. This was taken in March 2020, without any guiding. I used the #Alairastro183c fan cooled cmos. 4.5 hours of 90s exposures spent collecting photons. My imaging journey was well on it's merry way π

9 months into imaging - This galaxy had me buzzing, back in 2019. Especially as I had taken it using my guide camera ( #gpcam290c) and my 130P newt on alt az. This was 72 minutes of 30s exposures. Not too shabby. This is The Whirlpool Galaxy aka Messier 51.
