Let's just be honest, this is alcohol advertising & these busses should not be on our streets normalising alcohol use for children. It is time there were substantially more restrictions on alcohol advertising in SA, ideally limiting advertising to points of sale only as per 2013 draft legislation

Given increasing evidence that any alcohol consumption (with a few minor exceptions) is harmful to the health of consumers, one has to ask: "Is this really a benefit, & is the alcohol industry funding this in any way?" @WHO @HealthCanada3 @AirCanada www.dailymaverick.co.za/article/2025...

Maybe we needs to take a leaf out of Thai culture where giving gifts of alcohol can be viewed as insulting. It can take more thought/effort to find other gifts, but do we (I include myself) really want to give a gift to someone that increases risk for cancer, heart disease etc.?

International relations go better with liquor, as Lamola’s haul of gifts shows Alcohol, obscure artworks and other tat appear to be favoured as gifts given by foreign embassies to South Africa's minister of international relations.

If all this gifted alcohol is consumed by Ministers themselves, unless they share widely, how often do they work under influence of alcohol? Alcohol and cigarettes in the Budget β€” anchor policy in data, not industry spin The Treasury’s excise tax revenue data speak volumes. Legal beer consumption is on an upward trajectory despite the modest tax hikes. However, illicit cigarettes represent billions in lost revenue.

Time to call out gaslighting by the liquor industry! Legal beer consumption is on an upward trajectory despite the modest excise tax hikes that have occurred in South Africa, undermining the industry claims of growing illicit trade. www.dailymaverick.co.za/article/2025...
