Oh wow!
Oh wow!
disability benefits are extremely difficult to get and are barely enough for people to survive. no one is pretending to be disabled, especially for money @chronically.char

In terms of CanLit Iβm also really looking forward to Marcus Kliewerβs The Caretaker and Tiffany Morrisβs Carnalis, both coming out later this month.
The Governesses by Anne Serre translated by Mark Hutchinson
An oddity, and I quite like oddities.
Would definitely recommend also following @junctionreads.bsky.social
Breathing Is How Some People Stay Alive by Alison Gadsby
Starting more unsettling CanLit.

One was from the dollar store so I probably couldβve got itβ¦
There have been two instances recently where I had to put actual mental effort into not purchasing a stuffed/plushie capybara. That healing the inner child thing is real.
Scooby Doo x Polly Pocket, including a few classic villains (ghosts of Elias Kingston and Captain Cutler, Phantom Shadow, ghost knight and a few other spooks, hidden behind the moving pieces)
Growing up I never had Polly Pockets, but look at this! Treat for the whole family. The ghosts move, as do the eyes in the portrait of Elias Kingston.
I was *completely* unprepared to learn that Andrew Tate doesnβt bother to read books.
Colour me gobsmacked! Who could have predicted this?
Except from Rhine Journey where Charlotte kisses a peony

βAs befits our meek, unmarried middle-aged English protagonist in the year 1851, Charlotteβs revolution is less external than it is internal; not a physical blooming into a flower, but a subtle and total derangement of understanding.β Lauren Groff
Dune is so interesting as a description of a distant future written by someone in the 50s/60s. In one sentence the author is describing advanced technology and multiplanet civilizations, and in another he's describing a room as having filing cabinets in it.
Bluesky needs some people at the top who enjoy the idea of social interaction and/or are interested in other human beings instead of people who only love systems and machines and protocols.
A bad cat splayed outside a childβs bedroom door.
βWhat keeps waking up the child?β
Iβve been thinking about items ever since I saw one
How shall I describe this? Like the Little Golden Books porno version. Like babyβs first gothic, if baby was born masturbating.
a black cat, pepper, very lit by the sun
good afternoon
Though in many of its aspects this visible world seems formed in love, the invisible spheres were formed in fright.
"No one wants to see a feminist spin on Frankenstein" is a thing I actually just read.
It is really weird to me when people donβt like reading and books.
I get not having enough time to read. I get wanting to read more, but there are just too many distractions around you. Obviously, I get having disabilities that make it difficult to read.
But just not liking books? Who are you?
Happy International Womenβs Day. May no woman die from Israeli or American bombs. May all feminism be decolonial and resist empire.
Oh yeah, money! Why didnβt I think of that? I think youβre probably right. Thereβs this book I want, donβt want to pay for the hardcover but the paperback wonβt be out for months and months. But also sometimes publishers go with softcovers right out of the gate. Idk. Publishing is mystifying.
I know people are very sensitive about the use of the word βgenocideβ but the attempts to medically eliminate trans children is very clearly meets the standard because they are trying to eliminate a population and also they know some of those kids are going to kill themselves
Omg I read this for my degree!!
Why is there such a long wait between books being released as hardcovers versus paperbacks?

Happy International Women's Day! Who's on your list? #canlit
Darkened profile of a kitten on a cat tree throwing her head back and yawning, tongue curling up, against the backdrop of a dimly-lit window with the trees blossoming outside.
We are at work an hour early thanks to the time change. Boooo! Clover wasn't ready to get up yet. Big girl yawn!
