the Inika always felt like this edgy tryhard backstory for the Mahri to me (/pos), and it made the state they're in during the Mahri era feel more like their "prime" to me.
makes me wish we got more of jaller and the gang past that point :/
+ starting the comics in the magazines with the phantoka really solidified this, even as the story shifted focus to the og team, it continued the Ignika thread and made it vital, upped the stakes, and introduced more makuta.
I unironically love being introduced to Bionicle through the mahri. the toa all looked so cool and distinct, the enemy and the mission were both so clear, and previous toa teams seemed like prequels to this, the Main Story of Bionicle.
