This weekend, we joined the Selma Bridge Crossing Jubilee to commemorate the 61st anniversary of Bloody Sunday, the Selma to Montgomery March, and the signing of the Voting Rights Act of 1965. Together, we crossed the Edmund Pettus Bridge with hundreds of people walking in the footsteps of heroes.

On March 7, 1965, 600 ordinary people marched in Selma for the right to vote. They faced brutal violence, but they kept marching.

Trailing his primary opponent by only two votes, the NC Senate leader might wish election officials had more time to count every vote.
