Tombstone Wins aren't my dream design it's just the design that I think would improve the league and have a chance of being implemented. My dream of dissolving the league and re-forming as an association that combines the best of European soccer w/ the best of US franchise model seems unlikely.

Part of my proposed model that doesn't matter because no one in the league would ever care what I say includes a small lottery slice for teams that win out of the play-in

I think there is an inherent check on a lot of early season tanking but it won't eliminate it entirely. If the model is "losses before date plus wins after date" then there really does need to be some floor on how many losses you can accrue, even with that natural desire to win at the start.

I am once again begging newspaper and magazine sites to let me pay $0.50 or $1.00 or something to read a single article. I'm not going to subscribe but I will give you money to read something that interests me. You used to be able to buy one issue when it was physical media!

Drone strikes in Haiti.
Drone strikes. In Haiti.
By private contractors.
Theyโre killing Haitians for private profit & the world barely pays attention.
The story of Haiti is the story America likes to tell about itself. Except there, itโs true. And the west has never stopped punishing Haiti for it

Both Lowe and Bontemps have again mentioned a lottery system that pivots to wins counting for odds. It won't be the exact system I advocate for but it seems like there's actual momentum for at least putting a system like that to a vote.

Celtics have two All NBA wings with multiple 50 point games and by far the most likely Celtic to score 84 is Pritchard

So many of the super high score games end up like that. It's more like a side quest than the actual game, but side quests can be fun!
That being said, I wish I hadn't watched the end of the game. It would seem much cooler if I hadn't actually seen it. Wilt had it right, doing it with no video.

OKC are also the team most likely to break Boston's "never turn it over" strategy and mess up their offense. Although, maybe Boston is the team to break OKC's "always turn them over" strategy and mess up their defense...

It's pretty rare for a team to win an NBA title without running into disappointment first. The Celtics best path to the title is probably for the Spurs to knock out OKC and then struggle with the bright lights in the Finals.

Merchant vessel Seaway Hawk transporting decommissioned U.S. Navy Avenger-class Mine Countermeasures Ships USS Devastator, USS Dextrous, USS Gladiator and USS Sentry in the Delaware Bay to unload in Philadelphia tomorrow - March 9, 2026 SRC: FB- Delaware River Shipping / Andy Wyrick ๐ท
We live in a world beyond parody. The United States has had four minesweeper vessels in the Persian Gulf for 35 years. Just yesterday these ships arrived in Philadelphia to be decommissioned, a day before Iran announces that they are mining the Strait of Hormuz.

Yeah, a lot of these games that get into the 70's are a complete joke by the end. Wilt, Kobe, Robinson, Booker, and now Bam. Luka's 73/10/7 on 75% shooting in a tight game is probably the highest scoring game that didn't involve shenanigans or 3OT.

No, the Wizards were being incredibly stupid. They were deploying a strategy to try to deny him but were so over aggressive in doing it that they kept fouling him!

The Heat fouling to get the ball back then the Wizards fouling to keep it away from him then the Heat player missing on purpose so Bam could try to rebound it is an pathetic death spiral

I'm sure they gave him the last two FTs because they saw that it was devolving into the Heat fouling to get the ball, the Wizards fouling anyone other than Bam to touch the ball to deny him, the Heat players missing the FT on purpose, and they just wanted it over

The previous record for FTAs in a game was 39 but that was hack-a-Dwight. The previous record in a game where they weren't intentionally fouling is 34 which means Bam took 26% more FTAs than any player has ever "legitimately" taken in a game before.
