Itโ€™s not the heat that gets ya, itโ€™s the humidity! (But seriously when is it predicted to breakโ€ฆ? I want to go to the library but I canโ€™t hack the thought of waiting at the tram stop.)

My husbandโ€™s using his long-service leave to learn to play violin, which is a long-held dream of his (his great-grandfather was a professional violinist) and one I fully support.

But these early days, my god. At least when he was teaching himself piano it didnโ€™t sound like someone murdering a cat.

(ie. Not the โ€˜right to claimโ€™, but the responsibility to tend.)

The Aboriginal framework of care for Country fits beautifully with Jewish values, I think. You can develop rootedness in place wherever thereโ€™s a duty of care.

I think that part of what is fraught is that in much of the so-called Western world, diaspora exists as a part of ongoing colonisation. So part of the work of diaspora is decolonisation โ€“ we are here because of ethnic cleansing, as Indigenous people were ethnically cleansed.

But!! Are we all just about to migrate to Upscrolled? Because I only have one more social media in me.

I phased out most of my social media a while ago, but am back here as Iโ€™ve missed a bit of the old peer-scrolling.

Itโ€™s such a bitch to try to balance the genuine connection microblogging can create with the dread the algorithm churns up. If I suddenly disappear again, itโ€™s cos the vortex got me.

First impressions of London: it is teeny-tiny, and full of bricks.

I realized a while ago that I don't know how to set alt-text for an art piece.
Now I realize the advice I've seen revolves around web design, either SEO optimization or accessibility for tables in e-books/the like.

What do people who need it want out of alt-text on art?

Does anyone know if any substantial work has been done on the way in which people approach writing alt textโ€ฆ? Iโ€™m so curious as to how it contributes to the body of art criticism based on writing the image.

This scholarship looks incredible! It pays about twice the rate of an ordinary PhD, and is attached to a meaningful project around recuperating othered writing. Indigenous Creative Writing Phd-wanters, get on it!

Headlines: 'World leaders express outrage': they need to do far more than 'express outrage'. At the very least, sanctions. BDS now (yesterday, years ago).

Fuck me... I don't think I am going to be able to access the PhD stipend for travel in April after all, and don't have enough in my savings for a plane ticket right now.

Does anyone have any work going that might get me to a symposium in London...? Writing, proofing, editing all on offer!
