Why do you expect ill, injured and elective surgery patients and the people supporting them to use public transport?
I don't think NHS Scotland covers the fuel/power costs of car transport. Buses aren't charged for using bus stops to my knowledge.
Why are you excluding unemployed people, single parents and minimum wage workers? I'm happy with free (at the point of use) for everyone. I'd include staff working at the hospital as a minimum.
And I'm sure there are ways of dealing with abuse of free parking.
Plenty people attending hospital aren't fit for public transport. I support active travel but accept there are times and places when even enciraging that would be cruel.
I don't drive and know only too well that buses do not go everywhere you need them to.
Why are you still not clarifying when you are talking about England? There are no parking charges at NHS Scotland hospitals.
