Like people used to do in our world, they use horses for transportation and cattle for plowing. Cattle can also pull carts and wagons, same as horses.

The plant matter itself is waste. It's not very useful for anything but compost, since the essential oils are removed. But compost is worthwhile!

There's a bit of danger in that it's possible to burn yourself, but mostly it's just that the techniques are harder to understand by reading about them rather than someone demonstrating. Plus you have to have the equipment, which is expensive.
It's possible to learn distillation from books, but it's not recommended. Most apothecaries learn on the job as apprentices.

There are no special creatures, so the differentiation is the same as ours.
#MarchWorldbuilders #WriterSky
Absolutely! Most of them don't make very complex potions, but they sell a range of basic ones.
Nope. Animals aren't really the focus of my story. I considered making up new ones, but why reinvent a horse?
#MarchWorldbuilders #WriterSky
The essential oils are distilled from fresh plants. Many mages do this themselves, but a lot of them rely on apothecaries. Apothecaries also sell the raw materials for those who want to distill their own oils.

This is the correct nomenclature

Not over a couple of plants, no. Although I should probably think about the military history of my realm.

Same ones as ours. They use horses for transportation, cattle for milk, meat, and leather, dogs for hunting and protection, etc.

My story is a romance so I have 2 MCs. One of them makes potions, so most of his work involves plants. I also describe some of the food of the world, which includes many plants and mushrooms.
#MarchWorlduilders #WriterSky
Not for the plants that are used in potions! But I'll take a brief detour to mention that the stones used in enchantment can be recycled. Some folks make a small living stripping old enchantments off stones and reselling them.

They have a lot of the same food and textile crops that we have. Farms are divided between those that grow food and textile crops and those that grow magical plants to be used in potions (although many of those can also be eaten).
#MarchWorlduilders #WriterSky
Farmers grow and harvest magical plants. They are generally more wealthy than farmers who grow food or textile crops, but they're not nobility.
#Marchistics #WriterSky
Their society is generally sort of preindustrial, so harvesting is done by hand.
All of the above! Potions are a huge part of Docalrian culture. They use plants, especially essential oils, to harness their magical properties. Potions can heal, restore, and even enhance body functions.

There's nothing special about growing plants in Doclaria. There are farms for large-scale production, but people also grow basil and lavender in home gardens.
#Marchistics #WriterSky
Spring flowers like daisies, phlox, and verbena, represent love and courtship during the late spring festival Reunionalia. People wear both fresh flowers and enchanted ones made of gemstones.
#MarchWorldbuilders #WriterSky
Lavender and basil are both cultivated in Doclaria. Many people use holy basil because its properties are stronger. It isn't endemic, but it's been grown there long enough that you no longer have to import it.

Skipping writing today because my pain is off the charts for the second day in a row. Chronic pain always sucks but today it REALLY sucks. Can I please trade this body for one that works. #WriterSky #Disability
Sooooooo many ingredients. It can be so overwhelming that lots of potioners specialize. For example, they'll make just healing potions or just potions for thought and focus.
Like flowers, fungi can be magical. Fewer of them are used in potions though, because most of them are still poisonous.
#MarchWorldbuilders #WriterSky
The essential oils and tinctures of the ingredients like lavender and basil are intermediate goods. They can be purchased, but many potioners make them themselves.
#Marchistics #WriterSky
Please do!
It likely tastes herbal/floral and probably contains essence of lavender and holy basil. It's a little oily. Not alcoholic.
Huh, I haven't actually worked that out. Probably a faintly yellow liquid?
Yes, exactly!
Not any one specific flower, but most flowers have magical properties that can be used in potions. It takes years of study to understand them well enough to come up with new recipes.
#MarchWorldbuilders #WriterSky
Since magic is a major part of my world I'll focus on a potion, specifically a general remedy. It's a catch-all health tonic that helps in an emergency but won't actually make a person well because it isn't specific enough.

Hello, I'll be talking about my fantasy realm of Doclaria! Hopefully I'll find out some gaps in the way I've envisioned my magical world and how it functions so that I can patch that up, in my own knowledge if not on the page.
