Existing bike lanes shown in green on Avalon, Andover, and the Spokane/West Seattle Bridge trail. Proposed bike lanes/trails to be added to 26th from the Delridge Playfields north, 21st, and 22nd/Croft down the hill to Delridge.
The routes in green are the existing protected bike lanes in the area, the ones in yellow are where I believe we are going to need additional separated bike infrastructure.
Something we are going to absolutely need to do is add separated bike lanes for the last mile in every direction to the future Delridge light rail station. If traffic gets bad , bikes (and buses) need to be able to bypass it without challenge.
Some truncated woonerfs as needed might work too

My proposal for making MLK Way safer is that the street on the west side of the tracks (green) should be turned into a linear park from Mount Baker Station to Rainier Beach Station. Turn the east side of the tracks into a two-way street.
I'm convinced I need a bakfiets once my elbow is healed, I need to start (comfortably) biking my kids to school and daycare
Drivers cutting through the side streets like absolute psychopaths, saw a person walking their dog almost get hit by someone who will inevitably get stuck in the same lineup
Genuinely more convenient to live on a literal island like Mercer Island

About as small as I can go at this point before it becomes too small to bother I think (they want at least a couple seats). This is the model I'm working off.
Unfortunately I tried with a large island but the walkways would be compromised. This one is an off the shelf Ikea island, leaves about 4' walkway on the left and 3' 8" on right.
