“I think the draft is very complete, pretty much,” I say to my editor, while refusing to hand anything in or say when I will file.

Imagine if journalists acted like POTUS.

Camels at beauty pageant disqualified after using hump-plumping injectables Camel owners had used injections to enhance the camel’s lips, dermal fillers around their noses and silicone wax to enlarge the humps

This lede is a thing of beauty:

"A camel beauty pageant in Oman has been plunged into chaos as 20 of its competitors were disqualified after their owners enhanced their humps..."

Just saw a sprightly, adorable Carolina wren on our back deck, checking out the spot under the eaves where this species (presumably this very same bird and his mate) reared at least two broods last year.

This is the first sighting of the year.

Spring is coming!

Still proud of this story I did a decade ago for Newsweek that interviewed ornithologists about that time Randy Johnson vaporized a bird.

"I remember it well," one researcher said. "I was appalled, as I study mourning doves."

The cruelty and inhumanity of this Administration’s policies have left another person dead—as CBP dropped off Nurul Amin Shah Alam, a nearly blind refugee living in Buffalo NY, alone on a cold winter night miles from his home.

This cruelty must end.

The State of the Union really highlighted to me three themes of the Trump presidency (especially the second one). First, it's notable that in a speech to joint session of Congress, how little Congress was asked to do.

Please read this article to the end. Even before ICE got involved, this started because this *blind man who speaks no English and uses a curtain rod as a walking stick* got lost on a walk and some Karen called the police on him and they tasered and beat him bc he didn’t drop the rod. WTF
