Exploring neuroplasticity and gender. Flaminia will also share her past work, including IO sono memoria, on memory functions and memory loss, and APUA, co-created with Bärbel Praun, focusing on Italy’s Carrara marble quarries (featured in The Brutalist).

WHERE: Screen South Digital Hub, Glassworks, Folkestone, CT20 1JG*

Participants must be happy to bring personal photographs of visited landscapes and loved ones to the workshop, to share with the group.

Over two sessions, we will explore our personal memories with creativity, fun and connection, culminating in personal pieces that will be shared. No prior artistic experience or expertise is required.

The workshops will explore personal memories and reflections on places and people, and how this is always changing - with or without a dementia.

During this time Flami became increasingly interested in memory and its changing nature as we age or develop a disease in our brains. It led to Flami exploring neuroplasticity in her artistic practice.

For ten years, Flami was the primary support and then caregiver for her mum who was living with Alzheimer’s, until she went into a care home.

THE MEMORY PALACE - CALL OUT

We have 4 places for older adults and people living with a dementia with their friend or partner, taking place with Italian artist Flaminia Celata.
