Romeo x Juliet - Opening Nr. 1
YouTube video by MyFavouriteOPENINGs
Adding belatedly this one that was never quite as good as I wanted it to be (even if "masked revolutionary Juliet" is a great idea and it does try to go some pleasingly weird places) because a show that just opens with a solid cover of You Raise Me Up deserves credit

I like putting weird anniversaries on my calendar, there's not a deeper point to this post

(I liked a lot of things in Lady Bird despite kind of hating the movie overall, and one of the things was how spot-on he was as a specific type of guy that anyone who dates guys has encountered.)

I am required by school affiliation (P.S. 87, the William T. Sherman School, One Family Under The Sun) to respect Mr. Chalamet, but this is particularly funny given how often he plays "what women THINK they want superficially until they get to know the character."

I don't know much about how this ends but I've just been struck by the near-certainty that at least one phase of it is going to include maps renaming the Persian Gulf to the "Gulf of Iran" (yes I know)

extremely gay (rainbow flag colors with nonbinary flag on the tongue) converse all-star shoes with "He slash They" embroidered on the side, with a finger with purplish pink polish pointing right near the base of the rubber toe to indicate how far back the foot actually is
okay SOME of us just like cool converse like the aging punks we are but have short wide feet that leave us with shoes two sizes too long as our only option, it's not a fascist thing
(this is me pointing at my big toe, the furthest-forward part of my foot)

That's a fair qualifier, and I agree with most of it. (I don't think one must be part of the betrayed group to hold in the abstract that treason is a graver form of evil; a poet that I know for a fact you like more than I do was able to condemn Brutus without being a citizen of the Roman Republic.)

It means he's engaged in a project that, while bad on its own, amounts (coming from him) to a betrayal and treason against what ought to be his community. I think it's right to treat THATβnot his homosexuality itself, or his mannerismsβas worthy of special derision. 3/3

The well-documented (including by people I know personally) facts about Graham make it different in my view.
It's not "you're bad because you're gay," it's "you're bad because you made your career hurting people like you, using your privilege to refuse to recognize them as your own." 2/3

I generally agree with the underlying sentiment ("lol ur gay" as a response to right-wing people being evil sets my teeth on edge and makes me feel less safe around the people doing it). And I agree fully with this as applied to, say, images of Trump and Putin making out.
BUT.

We didn't get a VCR until I was 9 but I did have access to kids' novelizations, including Congo, so my first impression of the movie was a straightforward prose telling of the things that happened in it.
The Mask and Dumb And Dumber are probably the worst of the ones I first encountered that way.

One of my favorites is how Frank Nelson's character on The Jack Benny Program has outlived Benny himself in cultural consciousness as a character on The Simpsons that no one remembers is even parodying anything.
