During two workshops, the early-career researchers in our project, CDRmare, scaled up several of the marine CDR options we study to explore their potential to remove 10 Mt COβ per year.

We explored how much light kelp needs to thriveβand mapped where it could grow around Heligoland.
Turns out ~24 kmΒ² of the seafloor has suitable light conditions, supporting future kelp afforestation in the German Bight.
