Here’s my full video on Day 5 of the Ken Sim and Sean Orr saga.

A bit of today’s news, a bit of historical context to the story, a bit of answering @seanorr.bsky.social’s challenge to me earlier this week.

I *think* the story will recede now, but given the weirdness of it all, we’ll see!

Ken Sim, in his lack of forthright disclosure, or what some might call lying, seems determined to keep this story going πŸ€”

Yes, the change 2x a year is definitely the worst, but you missed the bit about there being consensus among sleep experts that if we’re moving to a permanent system, standard time is superior to DST for health & safety, as it aligns with human circadian biology.

I can’t overstate how strongly I oppose this. Yes, time change sucks, but if we’re doing away with it, ALL of the science says permanent standard time is the way to go.

3 candidates per party max, anything over 7 is diminishing returns, you dilute your own vote.

Also, yes these 3 parties need some kind of accord, but they need to consider centrists/liberals too. Some Sim voters are Eby voters are Carney voters. If/how Allam & Bligh play into this matters too.

Many suggest government’s role is providing assistance to people in (a) crisis, limiting our vision of public goods and the state.

Like Ruth Wilson Gilmore said, "Public goods should never be means tested. That's the entire point of a public good! And should be as permanent as anything imaginable.β€œ

Sorry to get radical but I don’t think it’s my job or yours to embrace, accept, understand - and certainly not to use - the thing being sold to us as AI. I don’t like any part of it, so I won’t. I’m missing out? Good, that’s what I want. You’re worried about me missing out? That’s fuckin weird, man.

Joint Call: BC must recommit to meaningful implementation of the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples and the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act | West Coast Environment... Civil society leaders stand with Indigenous peoples in BC and call on Premier Eby and his government not to amend the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act.

Amending BC's Declaration Act would "set back our collective reconciliation efforts by decades," say dozens of civil society groups and prominent Canadians in a joint statement

"Now is not the time to cede ground to those who cynically spread fear and doubt about that vital work" #bcpoli

We do not have to fall over ourselves saying that we love technological progress. The onus is on them to explain to us why we should be excited about new technology while there are microplastics in every mother's breast milk and our rivers are drying up

The Transformative Power of the White β€˜Race Traitor’

In terms of what cures are being lost:

- Epstein-Barr virus is perhaps the major trigger for multiple sclerosis
- herpes simplex virus causes cold sores, genital herpes, infections in babies, deadly meningitis
- shingles virus causes an intensely painful disease

13.02.2026 05:44 πŸ‘ 12539 πŸ” 6207 πŸ’¬ 443 πŸ“Œ 783

it's incredible to contemplate the volume of civic funding and effort spent appeasing:
- people who find the sight of poverty more offensive than evidence-based public health policy
- drivers who think bad traffic is a human rights violation
- residents who recoil from shadows like reverse-vampires

Epstein's world is our world.
That's the darkest revelation of these files. He wasn't an aberration. He was our culture made flesh. A culture that's now encoded into 1s and Os and is
growing exponentially baked into the algorithms that power our social media platforms, replicated at scale and fed into the large language models that Epstein's friends are building which are powering our future.

I’ll be interested to watch how these sentiments & people play out in the upcoming BC Conservative leadership race. We’ve already seen people with despicable hate-based views elected as BC Conservatives. Shouldn’t have to say it, but new leader should have zero tolerance for it. We’ll see. #bcpoli

HOPE, FOR ME, COMES
FROM THE PAST’
BY ESSAYIST REBECCA SOLNIT
β€˜HOPE IS THE THING WITH FEATHERS,’ EMILY DICKINSON
famously wrote, and that often leads to pictures of doves sitting
quietly and looking sweet, but what if hope is an albatross that
can soar for years without stopping, or an osprey that can haul
a thrashing salmon out of rough waters? People tend to think
hope is fluffy and frail, but it’s the force that has kept people going in the worst circumstances, the commitment to pursue the possibilities even when they seem remote.
There are so many things hope is not: it is not optimism, which
assumes that the future will be fine, and which requires nothing
of us, any more than cynicism, despair, defeatism and doomerism do. It is not a prophesy of the future, since it arises in part from recognising that we make the future in the present and that it will be shaped by countless factors, visible and invisible, including our own participation. It is not an upbeat feeling or a feeling at all, since people in the worst circumstances have hoped that their efforts to free themselves might be met with success, that their bleakcondition might not be permanent or that their children might live to see a better time.
