Until the universities do something to acknowledge they will value them, either with credits or with admissions impacts, the vast majority of parents and families will never embrace even exceptionally complex and demanding topics courses. I really don't see a way out of that particular rat trap.
But it ends up going nowhere cuz college counseling is like, "Unis won't be able to parse this and parents won't understand it and people won't enroll when they can take AP compsci instead"
Yeah I'm in the same boat. I even try to pitch it as, these types of courses can distinguish our school in a competitive marketplace. Why go somewhere else and take a generic AP that is basically available for 30 bucks from barnes and noble, when we can offer special topics courses that are unique?

This 100%, the test just wants you to have a one sentence summary to cite in an essay not think about the historical examples they cite, or the arguments they are responding to, or how philosophical sources they are drawing upon

I think this is right, and the fact that he doesn't really seem to stand for anything in particular beyond himself. I want politicians to bend to public opinion to some extent, but I also want politicians to stand for something and then get voted up or down on it.

Was teaching gerrymandering in class today, and talking about "packing" and "cracking" which led to sniggers. Apparently "cracking" is youth slang for sex, so FYI for everyone teaching US Government.
My high schoolers have more sophisticated accounts of what makes something political than the Post.
This actually is a real question though for interpretation and implementation of the Clean Water Act. There's case law (Sackett v EPA) and everything. I agree with your broader point but this one actually could be a thing that has real impacts.
