Yesterday two unions negotiated with their shared landlord and secured recognition, lease renewals, a 10-day grace period for rent, repairs schedule including mold remediation.
@caaavnyc.bsky.social, which runs the Chinatown Tenants Union, has a very thoughtful membership structure.
Only lower-income ppl from its organizing neighborhoods may become members; others may support but may not help form strategy.
Since adopting this structure, CAAAV has tripled its membership.
