The Promised Land and the state of Israel. #BIY2026
God is a God of love and mercy and grace but He is also a God of holiness and righteousness and justice. He is quick to forgive the sin of those who repent but He is also faithful to judge those who persist in their rebellion. #BIY2026
We are on a wandering journey through this world. We face challenging times and difficult seasons. It can cause us to wonder where is God? This is where we have to walk by faith. Trusting Jesus to provide the Living Water that never runs dry. #BIY2026
Like Aaron and the rest of the leaders of Israel, we bring what we have to offer to the Lord. That’s all we are charged to do. It’s God who gives the increase. It’s God who fills His people with His Spirit and empowers them to do mighty things. #BIY2026
The greatest obstacle to the fulfillment of God’s mission is us. Human beings made in the image of God who continually rebel against God.Thankfully, the reason God’s mission will succeed in the end is because of His great faithfulness. #BIY2026
To see God, we must be pure in heart. We must have the purest of intentions. We cannot allow selfish ambition or vain conceit to get in the way. #BIY2026
God wants to use our years to bless and serve others. Even when we retire and hand off our responsibilities, He wants us to assist those who come after us, attend to their needs, mentor them, coach them, and share with them all we have learned. #BIY2026
God has a plan for each of our lives. His divine plan includes our assignment in His Kingdom. It’s a space only we can occupy because each of us is fearfully and wonderfully made and, as such, have a unique contribution to make. #BIY2026
It’s tempting to assume everything rests on our obedience, including our eternal destiny. But such thinking betrays a fundamental misunderstanding of God, His covenant, and what He’s done for us in Jesus Christ. #BIY2026
Life is busy. It’s easy to burnout. That’s why God gives the gift of Sabbath. #BIY2026
The challenge in reading Leviticus is the cultural gap that exists between modern culture and the ancient world. There are fundamental differences between both cultures. Thankfully, God works through our cultural worldview to reveal Himself. #BIY2026
God’s time is not like our time. It is not time as it ticks away on a clock or watch. It is sacred time. It is heavenly time. It is time oriented around the first commandment which is to worship God alone. #BIY2026
Holy. It’s a word that defies definition. We’ve never experienced it or seen it or touched it with our hands. Only God is holy. Perhaps this is why we struggle to grasp what holiness is all about. It is something unique to Him. #BIY2026
God is, by nature, pure. He is, by nature, clean. He is, by nature, holy and though we were originally made to stand without fear in His presence, our sin corrupts us and separates us…thus our need for a Savior. #BIY2026
The sacrificial system instituted by Moses in Leviticus is one movement, if you will, within a much larger play. The entire system is given as a means to prepare God’s people for Christ. To get them ready so they will recognize Him when He appears.#BIY2026
When we come to worship, do we understand we are entering the presence of a Holy God? A God who deserves and demands nothing less than our best? The offerings we bring are a pure heart and a right spirit. Such offerings God will never despise. #BIY2026
Sally McFague once defined sin as a “refusal to remain in our place.” We aspire to be gods. We refuse to remain in our place as God’s instruments of blessing in this world. We want to reign and rule and exercise dominion over all God has made. #BIY2026
Is God’s presence enough? It’s an important question. If we never received a single blessing from God, would the promise of His presence be enough for us? #BIY2026
In the New Testament, the Apostle Peter makes a startling statement. He calls Christians a “royal priesthood.” The idea here is that every Christian is now “ordained” a priest by virtue of their connection to our great high priest, Jesus Christ. #BIY2026
Sin causes us to forget our place. We are not the center of the universe. We have to set aside our natural, sinful inclination to make the Bible all about us. We only “get something out of it” if we seek first to immerse ourselves in it. #BIY2026
Laws establish boundaries. They determine the limits of human behavior. Healthy laws and boundaries are critical to creating the conditions under which human beings thrive. Without the rule of law, evil is allowed to run amok and people suffer. #BIY2026
When we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we become a royal priesthood, a chosen race, and a holy nation. Christ Himself becomes our identity, eclipsing all others. #BIY2026
The patience of God is a remarkable thing. Even when I whine and complain. Everyday He teaches me what it means to be His child. He grows me more into His likeness and image. His goal is to make me the person He’s created and called me to be. #BIY2026
At the end of the day, all of us have to answer this question for ourselves - Are we hardening our hearts towards God? #BIY2026
The Book of Exodus is ultimately a book about God. It reveals His divine nature and character. It is God re-introducing Himself to the world and to His people after hundreds of years of seeming silence. #BIY2026
Logically, one would think oppression and persecution would shrink a population. So why did the people of Israel multiply so rapidly? Why did the church grow so quickly? The answer is God. He hears them. He is with them. He remembers them. #BIY2026
The image of God playing with His creation is one of the most powerful descriptions of His sovereignty. He is so comfortable and in such control that He relates to even the most powerful creatures on the planet like I relate to my dogs. #BIY2026
