There's one belting it out in my garden as I work! Definitely feels new over the last few years to hear them so early, and they seem more 'present' somehow. A very welcome change if it is one!

This sounds fantastic. Does this mean we get to go outside again?
Welcome to the UK! Sorry about all the grey weather and for the general gloom. Also: pigeons.
I had to check, but I'm pretty sure the Why who writes code for Bluesky is NOT the poignant guide to ruby guy.
My clicker thumb is aching at the thought.
No way @foone.bsky.social is on here!
Wait did foone hack a brain???

It's a great centre with some brilliant colleagues!
Please tell me it did the head back-and-forth lurch as well. I didn't notice it in Jurassic Park...
Reposting this for my bird nerd followers. Not a mega original MRI study, but notable that the researcher's name is Wing.
There's an advert on telly for Copilot, which seems to be a business negotiation. One party offers a price, and the other party is shown typing "They offered XX, how much can we afford?" into Copilot. This is what we are training: a cohort of people with no agency or expertise, but tarted-up Bing.
The Epstein files have hit neuroscience: "UCSD center director V.S. Ramachandran receives lab funding from Epstein" ucsdguardian.org/2026/02/17/u... Hmmmm...

Sounds like the author shouldn't have been an author if they didn't recognise their own work.
A reminder that one thing that allowed Darwin to focus on science was a large team of servants that catered to his every need.
I assume Stewart Lee has been contacted for a quote.

I liked that too! A very good read.
Yeah but imagine how many pages of justification you'd need to ask a university for that amount of money. Getting Β£15k a pop just for a few lines of email sounds refreshing.
This sounds like something Jurassic Park would say. I think I might avoid South Kensington for a bit.
We have an institutional policy that things start on the hour and end at ten to. It's become such a norm that people will just sign off Teams meetings if they go over. The ten minute buffer is as much a cultural expectation as a siesta or a proper lunch break in other countries.
I know nothing about tennis and don't really care, but it seems that I only ever hear about this player when she's exited a tournament early, and/or sacked a coach.

I have a strong belief that scientific instruments like questionnaires should not be have the same copyright protection as other text. Yes you can assert authorship, no you can't stop people using it.
