I saw photos of the event I attended in the news. The meltdown happened a day late.
I went to an event tonight with 100 or so people that I didn't know, and when I came home, I didn't have a meltdown. Yay. Personal growth.
I was at the 25th Anniversary panel of TOS. Someone asked the actors what they thought was the worst episode.
They all said, in unison, "Code of Honor."
Ten years ago, I wrote a book.
Today, a student walked into my office, showed me a copy of my book, and asked me to sign it.
It's the first time anyone has asked me for my autograph.
My little brother tells me that he's now a graphic designer for two different UFL teams and one NFL team.
I had to look up what the UFL was.
I announced on Facebook about how my power went out, and we had to keep our iguana warm with our body heat. My dean said that she would deliver her portable generator straight to our house.
(The power came back on a few hours later. Everything is good.)
Get yourself a camera that can take a beating and record ICE every day.
Wait... Is Duolingo getting.... better?
The year is 2026, and I need to locate the exact email in my Outlook inbox that contains the attachment I require.
Gmail solved this problem in 2004.
βBut despite OpenAIβs talk of supporting health goals, the companyβs terms of service directly state that ChatGPT and other OpenAI services βare not intended for use in the diagnosis or treatment of any health condition.ββ
I know this is yesterdayβs news and feels relatively unimportant now but just want to note that this is ongoing and X and xAI continue to do absolutely nothing about it despite being able to end it by pressing a single button.
It took me years to overcome the trauma.
Professor Darren Michael will return to his position as a tenured professor at Austin Peay State University.
Read the room.
I dreamed that I was building model rockets with Mark Rober last night. Super chill. Super nice.
I am horrified by this. This year I learned that I can be fired for sharing a news article on my private social media or for giving a student a low grade.
NEW: Hours before it was set to air an episode about migrants shipped to El Salvadorβs notorious CECOT prison, β60 Minutesβ pulled the episode, preemptively caving to Trump. Just like that, the beloved show we have known is dead, Marc Elias writes.
Do not obey in advance.
RateMyProfessor is still a thing and students sometimes drop comments.
It is the biggest ego boost to read glowing student evaluations at the end of each semester, even when I believe every semester feels like a train wreck.
E.T. is a fantastic game and really hard to beat. Love it.
I love your suggestions. I need to make a trip back to McKay's in Nashville.
Good suggestions. You'll find Missile Command and Space Invaders in the photo. There might be games similar to Scorched Earth on the 2600, but there wasn't anything under that name.
I forgot about Adventure. I have that in a special display case.
My Atari 2600 collection
Here's my Atari 2600 collection. What should I add?
Me: Opens up new journal article about how AI extracts racial data from digital pathology slides and then is biased and racist
Popup on the page of scientific journal that published this study: "Ask ScienceDirect AI: What is your research question? Research faster with ScienceDirect AI!"
Michele Reiner snapped this photograph. She was murdered last night. The subject of this photo had this to say about the death of her and her husband.
Demons from the pits of Hell need collective bargaining rights too.
One more.
