Different domain but I’ve become really anti-vocabulary in econ/markets — transitory, stagflation, soft landing, recession, bull market, bear market, I don’t like any of it. Better to just describe the dynamics that are occurring rather than get anchored to a specific term.
It's an issue of control. The language is used to identify insiders versus outsiders, those who have institutional power and those who do not. The more complicated and frequently changing the language, the more control the insiders exert. It's part of the factional fight within the Democratic Party.
