You wouldn't tell a person in a wheelchair they look like they could walk or a deaf person they look like they can hear.
Please consider what makes commenting that to a person with a service dog okay?

A golden retriever service dog sitting with back towards the camera. Dog is wearing a light blue service dog best and looking at the altar of St. Michael's Church in Dublin, Ireland
Embroidery of a saint in a blue cloak holding a church with " bear ye one another burdens"
"You don't look/act/seem disabled." I heard this half a dozen times today as I visited local museums and churches.
People seem to think it's a compliment, I'd rather your perception of my disability/ability not be commented on at all.

Phoebe's 1 year death anniversary.
She was the best kitty and she's cuddling with my grandparents and honored dead today.
There's popcorn and a whole stick of butter for my Christmas kitty this Valentine's Day #shinto #HonoredDead
2026 is rough but at least I'm leveling up my apocalypse skills. #flaxspinning #austria #heritage #archeaologist #experimentalarcharology
I have been struggling since Alex's murder. I didn't know him but I knew many nurses like him...I tried to be a healthcare provider like him.
There's some good in the world worth fighting for and Alex was murdered for being that good. We should keep on fighting, however we can. #alexpretti
I just ordered a raincoat and boots for Murphy from Spark Paws. Here's hoping they hold up to Irish weather. It will be the ultimate test. #servicedog #disabled #workingdogs #doggear If you want to get your own gear, use my code and get $15 off :D www.sparkpaws.com/KIT31030
For Star Trek fans: The U.S., under the current administration, would NOT be allowed into the United Federation of Planets.
I hope this new year brings wonderful discoveries and adventures to us all.
May we remember that there is some good in the world worth fighting for.
May we shine bright and know when to rest. So say we all.
Finished 2 out of my 3 finals for autumn semester today and celebrated with a delicious Seattle cider next to my beautiful wife. So happy to be spending December with her and introducing her to our new Irish life π π βοΈ. #graduateschool #8kwords #archaeology #clonmacnoise #MustFarm
After a week of lofi study beats and careful paper construction, everything has devolved. Finals are now fueled by spice bags, coffee and K-pop. Featured is my suggestion for our class shirt #4000morewords #icandothis #graduateschool #archaeology
Writing a mock funding proposal as a final assignment for material culture. I propose a reconstruction of the Must Farm weaving hut and textiles. How do I make "because it would be cool" a 4,000 word essay? #goodReason #justGraduateStudentThings #BronzeAge #MustFarmArchaeology
Recently, Blake Gutt and I had the great fortune to sit down with @eocieslik.bsky.social & record a converation for the Whiplash pod with @maxwellkuzma.bsky.social on medieval trans & genderqueer saints--and why they matter today, more than ever

4 cups of coffee, 1 cup of earl grey, a cinnamon raisin bagel with cream cheese, 1 bowl of taco soup with cheese, sour cream and chips, and a bowl of gummy candy....that's what 4k word graduate papers are made of. Now onto paper #2/3. #archaeology #academia #focusgoddamnit
Being #neurodiverse and #disabled really kicks my ass some days and I have to respect the fact that even 15 minutes of attention and work is still good. I'll get this paper done, 100 words and 15 minutes at a time.
Dear Spirits...give me the strength to write 3,000 words on how the #landscapearchaeology and built environments enhance and advance the power and agenda of #Clomachnoise. I can do this. #academia #archaeology
βRemembering Rita Hester and the untold thousands of other murdered trans people is a day-to-day battle with overwhelming grief, as we who live try to hang on to every name we can."
Mortuary archaeology tells us about what the individuals burying someone thought, not about how the deceased thought about themselves ( most of the time) so it is important to try and find those things in the record that help us understand individual perceptions and identity.
@archaeodeath talking about important things to know about sex, gender, and #archaeology On this #TDoR. As a trans non-binary archaeologist, we need to continue these conversations furthering the important work of dismantling systemic and personal bias (more in comments) www.tiktok.com/t/ZP8UdyvSb/
Apparently we are having a little arctic wind.... It's fucking cold- this beats Montana cold up for breakfast. I need to knit faster.
Our work, led by @dl-arch.bsky.social and Miljana RadivojeviΔ on the Bronze Age site at Semiyarka (NE Kazakhstan) published today in @antiquity.ac.uk

Doesn't seem to be enough coffee in the world this morning... Working on a landscape archaeology paper about natural crossroads (glacial roads and the river shannon) shaping the sacred site of #clonmachnoise. Brewing another cup #caffeibis #academia #archaeology
This is one of the farms I was raised on in western North Carolina. Our farm was directly below theirs. I can't put into words how this shaped me as a person and how heartbroken I am that this property and my grandparents are now gone. #appalachia #greatsmokeys #home www.youtube.com/watch?v=-cjF...

Material Culture final paper in progress! It is a funding proposal for new research on the Must Farm textiles, which are already excellently researched. I'm creating #ExperimentalArchaeology projects to examine the task space of Structure 1, aka the weaving hut #BronzeAge #Weaving #MustFarmTextiles
I'm listening...
golden retriever laying at their handler's feet on an airplane. the dog's head is tilted back, looking at the handler
handler and golden retriever service dog looking at the camera, there is a stone wall and the ocean is slightly visible behind them.

What a journey! I'm in the thick of things in Ireland now. I am writing my final papers for this semester, 2 out of 3 focus on textiles. Enjoy some of my favorite photos of Murphy and I doing stuff. #disabled #servicedog #experimentalarchaeologist #universitycollegedublin #ireland
