As a realist painter, my motivation is to share my visual experiences. Through my artwork, I try to bring the outside in, to pay tribute to the natural world, and remind us how rewarding it can be to take the time to reconnect with nature. kellycorbett.ca

A fun flashback to when I was making giant triptych paintings in a one bedroom apartment. 1/3 of the living room was my studio, 1/3 was my partner’s office and 1/3 was for our couch and TV.
lol, it’s got me thinking I should make another giant triptych…any special requests?
My current work in progress. I captured the reference image for this painting while I was out in Tofino last October for my Birthday. We had such a fun time that night dancing around on the beach and taking photos of the sunset. This painting will forever hold fond memories for me 💕
If you are feeling sad, go create something because art is magic and it will make everything a little bit better 💕✨

"Owning original art is like owning a piece of someone's creative DNA.
It's not just a painting-it's a moment, a mood, a conversation waiting to unfold." ~Amanda Carol Eck
I’m painting today, Tuesday 11-3 at the McMillan Art Centre in Parksville. Visitors are welcome!
I thought I’d share this helpful paint tip about the acrylic colours I use to create sand: titanium white, Vandyke Brown, and Payne’s Grey. Sometimes I’ll add raw sienna and/or Naples yellow. Remember, though, to mix this on the lighter side, as it darkens significantly when it dries.
A tip for painting water: not all water is blue, notice how the water closest to you is often a different colour. Here I am painting the first layer, the more dominant underlying colour. Next I will layer lights and darks on top of this.
I’ve got loads of unique gift items in my studio and on my website. Tote bags, pillowcases, art cards, prints and more! I’ll be working in my studio today, Thursday and Friday from 10-3:30. Visitors are welcome to come visit and purchase something wonderful for yourself 😉

At the end of every year I like to do a sales recap for myself. Makes it easy to look back at my post from the previous year and see the differences in my sales stats. And I share this info because I think other artists might find it interesting as well.
2025 was both a challenging and a rewarding year.
