Tadashi leans against the garden shed with a sigh. Out of sight of Aiichirou and the aunts, he can finally let his guard down. Here, he can indulge his unsightly habit, one that he would rather not have to explain to anyone. He pulls a crumpled cigarette pack from his back pocket. With a flick of his lighter, the scent of cheap nicotine fills the air. The first drag is the sweetest, soothing the jagged edges of the dayโs tension. โI didn't know you smoked, Tadashi.โ When he looks up to see Ainosuke standing there in his uniform, any relief he feels is quickly undone. The cigarette goes tumbling from Tadashi's numb fingers and into the dirt.
