Living in a 1930s house in California, so there's a significant risk of old-house stories. Otherwise, expect some combination of cooking, computers, biochemistry, skiing, and hiking.

I've been riffing on "Governor Moonbeam" and calling him "Governor FashLite" myself. But the headline team at the Post are on their game.

True for some asthmatics and their close friends?

I think when I said "good character", I was thinking "good" more in terms of a likeable or noble person than a well-depicted antihero.
I just get tired of seeing my name on the bad guys all the time.

Honestly, I rate The Big Sleep above The Maltese Falcon. I'm happy to watch either one of them though, given the opportunity.

Thanks! I'm sure there are some out there, but I've had real trouble finding them.

You know, I have never actually seen Victor/Victoria. I will correct that omission.

I hope so. If you can find them, I'll do my best to watch them.

The sigh, I get. The bailing, nope.
Also the only good movie with a good character named Victor, but that's just my personal issue.

Yeah - I worked on robots early in my career, and when they crash they take and/or deal damage in unfortunately exciting ways.

I've only tried that sort of thing face-to-face, but yes, sometimes. If the chain/warehouse stocks it, your odds are pretty good.

That being said, store managers in grocery chains have limited power to choose what they put on the shelves - and limited space to store stuff. You may get told "no".

if the US government logs these trees at the rate / quantity they're proposing, we'll lose one of the last old-growth forests. there's no coming back from that. if you have five minutes to leave a comment pushing back against the BLM, please do; there's a guide to that below.

I was radicalized by a kind elderly Presbyterian minister in a brightly colored cardigan who played with puppets and told me that people could like me exactly as I am and that everyone is different and that's great and we should like them exactly as THEY are.

As a counterpoint, when my spouse and I walked 2.5 miles down country roads from the nearest railroad halt to the Cotswolds town where we were staying over Christmas, the pub staff declared we must be mad to walk all that way. Good pub too, the Bell at Willersey.
