Trump Administration Readies Plans to Dismantle Renowned Science Lab
This should be the biggest weather and climate news on your radar today.
You can send an email today to say why dismantling NCAR is a bad idea for everyone: NSF_NCAR@nsf.gov

Cheshire van driver cleared of dangerous driving after four-year-old's death
Four-year-old Esmé Rose Weir was run over as she rode her scooter along the pavement to pre-school.
In the news today, a cyclist on the pavement who killed a man is charged with manslaughter.
By contrast, here's a van driver who killed a little girl. He was driving on the pavement: common, and illegal. Killed her. Only charged with dangerous driving. Fully let off.

Photograph of part of the National Cycle Network in the UK. The path is very muddy with lots of puddles.
Why don't more people cycle in the UK?

Yeah, it's such a shame that independents are being squeezed out everywhere.

It makes me so angry that a handful of men can detrimentally affect the planet in so many ways.

Grainy black and white photograph. Three flat concrete benches lead the eye towards a background of windows that form the wall of a modern building. Within the windows can be seen the distorted reflection of a classical building which is behind the photographer.
Brussels, I think.

London cycling friends - am thinking of hosting a Scottish themed social ride to mark the publication of my new Lost Lanes book. All will be welcome. Help me compile a few 🏴 landmarks in Londontown.

The last time I went for an eye test they reckoned I needed a pair of glasses for near vision, a pair for middle distance and a pair for far vision...

I had an MX going on 40 years ago and had forgotten about that little traffic light! Great cameras.

It's funny how some scenes, no matter how mundane, get fixed into one's memory.
You would run past where I used to live, albeit on the other side of the railway, just near the footbridge.
I'd better dig into the archives for the next obscurity!

Well spotted, yes it is! I used to live in Kennington, so often wandered/cycled this way into town and to work. Or the pub just the other side of the lock...

I often look at abandoned things like this and wonder if I can repurpose any of it. I really like this photo, the strong tones in the foreground against the lighter, grainy tones of the background.

A machine with wheels that seems designed to guide material in a line from one place to another. Some of the rollers have fallen off - there is a sense of being drawn into the distance.
Roll up.

A black and white film photograph taken underneath a road bridge. In the foreground, lying in a shallow pool of water, are a pair of women's below the knee boots, discarded. The bridge is constructed in concrete, roughly 20m wide, and the space underneath is rough dirt and stones, with a couple of pools of water against the right-side wall. The view through the bridge hints trees, although this part of the photo is very grainy.
I used to wander around with camera poking my nose into places few people went. I found these boots under a wide concrete road bridge. Why were they there? Did their owner leave barefoot? South Oxford.
