A very large shout out to the fab staff members @nationalarchives.gov.uk.web.brid.gy who were so helpful and kind to me on my visit today. An excellent day all round!
I think cake and scones ought to feature too or are they part of the food group ‘biscuits’? Also tea and coffee because without these, literally nothing gets done in the UK.
And someone else is being told off for bringing his horse into church! It was clearly all going on in 1625 Leicester…
Currently enjoying a foray into The National Archives at Kew looking at some churchwarden presentments from the 1620s. Just come across a man and a woman being presented for being ‘heard kissing together’!!! Must have been loud eh?
Absolutely! And don’t forget Bob the Builder and even further back, The Flumps and Wombles!!
Well, I wasn’t expecting to be reading about this whilst chomping on toast this morning! Thank you, very interesting
My now 18 year old can still sing that song off by heart!
Almost at 29 years of marriage and only a very few things have required replacement so far. Even the husband is doing ok 😉
I wonder if @romanpalace.bsky.social were trying to be cheap by not paying for a stamp or because they are so old, did they think it would be delivered by a messenger?
A beautiful tribute to a tragic lady
The elephant’s face reminds of England’s King Charles I who was beheaded…
Fantastic 🧵 thread. Thank you very much to the inspirational women all over the world who are not afraid to make things happen!
Love this!
Just lovely
I think there’s someone in my local town still doing this!!

Beautiful! Looking forward to seeing that when it’s finished
I often do this on holiday when I have finished a book. Sometimes I add it to the small collection in the place I am staying or if I am wandering around, I donate it. Either way, it gives a book a new lease of life, even if I didn’t like it.
Then you have indeed, made it!!
"It was an honour to see expert collectors taking these coins into their care,"
Really?? REALLY? and there was me thinking you just enjoyed making a fast buck, with at least two of the most important coins now off to the USA...

Wish there was an angry or disappointed face I could press instead of the heart!! 😤
Whatever the question, cake is always the answer!
I spend my life oiking my glasses from my nose to my head depending on what I am doing. If I am cross stitching then no glasses required but if I look up another 3 feet away I need my glasses!
It’s beautiful
