(2/2) My constituents in Winnipeg Centre want an answer, and I was proud to table their petition demanding the government pass @jennykwan.bsky.social’s Bill C-233 to stop arming governments committing war crimes and genocide.
When it comes to upholding international law, it seems like Prime Minister Carney can’t make up his mind. (1/2)
Whether it’s Carney in Ottawa or Danielle Smith in Alberta, anti-worker politicians are embracing authoritarianism instead of addressing the every day struggles of workers.
Through my #BillC247, we’re going to give power back to workers and uphold the right to strike.
Through the Liberals’ repeated use of Section 107 of the Canada Labour Code, they are violating the Charter-protected right to strike and attacking workers’ ability to fight for a liveable wage.
Voting has begun and I was excited to cast my ballot.
Avi Lewis and his team have built something powerful. They have raised a record amount in donations, brought hundreds of people together at events, and put forward a bold progressive vision that leaves no one behind and brings everyone along.
Today is International Women’s Day - a time to celebrate all the remarkable advancements made by women and gender-diverse people across the world. Today, we recommit to the ongoing fight for gender equality and human rights for all women and gender-diverse people in Canada and across the globe.
Access to food is among the most basic human rights. I call on the government to adopt this program to ensure everyone has the resources they need to live healthy lives.
I was proud to recently table a petition to adopt a National Food Assistance Program, something increasingly vital, especially for low income people, people with disabilities, seniors and adults without children.
I was so honoured to share my love of reading with students at École Assiniboine and Villa Rosa for I Love to Read.

Over February's #ILovetoRead Month, I was thinking about how stories teach us to share humanity, empathy and compassion. At a time when humanity is being stripped away from so many, stories are a powerful tool of resistance. This is one of the many reasons why I love to read.
We can’t let this anti-worker authoritarianism slide, which is why I tabled my Bill C-247 to repeal Section 107 of the Canada Labour Code and uphold the right to strike.
We need your solidarity and support to pass this bill. Call or email your MP and tell them to vote YES to Bill C-247.
Alongside tax breaks to corporate landlords and private jet owners, Carney’s Liberals have repeatedly violated the constitutionally-protected right to strike when workers stood up for liveable wages and safe working conditions.
If Carney is so worried about human rights, why is he making deals with India, China, and Qatar?
Trump is violating his very own Constitution in his current actions against Iran.
Canada was a peace keeping nation. Now we’re trying to egg on a third world war.

My Bill C-247 to repeal Section 107 and uphold the right to strike will be voted on this Spring. Will the Liberals support it, or continue siding with their corporate friends?
Workers’ right to strike is protected by the Charter, but the Liberals have repeatedly violated that right and undermined workers’ livelihoods using Section 107 of the Canada Labour Code.
If Carney truly supports the right to safe healthcare, he must commit to funding access to reproductive care for everyone in Canada. @actioncanadashr.bsky.social @whcwpg.bsky.social @ninecircleschc.bsky.social
Above all, said Gazan, Jivani should have been aware that the expression “off the reservation” was inappropriate.
“If he’s not educated enough to know that’s a racist comment,” she said, “maybe he should consider whether he should be representing the public, which also includes Indigenous people.”
We must uphold the safety of Indigenous women, girls and 2SLGBTQQIA+ people.
The Liberals must commit to binding corporate accountability frameworks and community safety plans to ensure the safety of indigenous women and girls around resource extraction projects.
The North End Woman’s Centre is right at ground zero of the crisis of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and Two Spirit People, and is essential for addressing this crisis.
I urge the government to provide the funding it needs to uphold community health and safety in Winnipeg Centre.
Pink Shirt Day is a reminder of how individual solidarity and small acts of kindness can spark global change.
Today, we wear pink to stand up to hate and recommit to creating kinder, safer and more inclusive environments. Bullying has no place in our communities. (2/2)
Image of a pink shirt that reads “end bullying.” Text around it says “PINK SHIRT DAY” “Leah Gazan MP Winnipeg Centre.”
In 2007, Pink Shirt Day started in a small town in Nova Scotia with a friend group’s act of solidarity after their friend was bullied for wearing pink. 19 years later, Pink Shirt Day has evolved into a global movement against bullying. (1/2)
The Conservatives are now desperately trying to outdo the Liberals’ anti-migrant policies by denying essential healthcare to migrants and refugees.
Thank you to my NDP colleague @jennykwan.bsky.social for speaking the truth: this is nothing but preying on the most vulnerable for political gain.
A special thank you to all of our volunteers who supported this event! And, a big thank you to the community service providers and organizations who shared their time and energy.
A big thank you to everyone who came to my Family Fun Winter Carnival at Turtle Island Neighbourhood Centre on Friday! I had so much fun meeting and chatting with so many neighbours 🌭🌮🍿
My question in the House advocating for support to the North End Women’s Resource Centre. #WinnipegCentre #CommunityAtTheCentre
From community members and grassroots leaders, I’ve heard clear messages condemning the paramilitary force and authoritarian aggression by ICE.
Government officials must not remain silent about our closest neighbour embracing fascist authoritarianism.

Ramadan Mubarak! Happy Ramadan! I wish everyone a blessed month filled with peace, strength, and success.
