Being in Selma was a powerful reminder that protecting democracy requires each generation to step forward, organize, and keep marching.
At the Workers Circle, our commitment to democracy and immigrant justice is rooted in that same legacy.
The struggle for a country where everyoneβs voice is heard and everyone is treated with dignity is far from over.
Standing on the Edmund Pettus Bridge, we honored the courage of the civil rights leaders and ordinary people who marched in 1965 to demand the right to vote. Their bravery changed the course of American history and continues to inspire movements for justice today.
This weekend, the Workers Circle traveled to Selma, Alabama for the 61st anniversary of the Selma to Montgomery Bridge Crossing.

From 1884 to 1954, local writers captured immigrant life in short, vivid feuilletons that are funny and moving. Social historian Vivi Lachs and scholar of Yiddish literature Sheva Zucker bring these drawings to life through performance and explore the stories, humor, and themes woven through them.

This message from a member of our Workers Circle community reflects the sobering reality and fear of so many people living in the USA. We need to channel the love we have for the immigrants in this country into energy to resist the current administration and fight for a better world for all.
Tomorrow, we will be back in Selma for Selma 2026. Our trip in 2025 was monumental and we know that this yearβs jubilee will be even bigger.

Kristi Noem promised law and order. Instead, ICE killed American citizen Renee Good. Federal agents killed American citizen Alex Pretti. Then the FBI blocked investigations into both killings.
Today, she is testifying at an oversight committee hearing. #notabovethelaw #ICEout
It is going to be a great event, don't miss it!
