Today, March 10, it is 500 years ago that Emperor Charles the fifth married the 23 year old Isabella of Portugal. There honeymoon trip lasted about a year and brought them to Southern Spain. Charles was born in Gent, Belgium and spoke Dutch, French, Italian, Spanish and Latin. (Wikipedia)

There will be lots of news about people complaining about puddles and clogged road drains after mid next week, drivers splashing pedestrians and flooded bus stops.

We skated this am south to north and back. On the way back a bit of a head wind and the ice started to feel softer. It was still -2 though. My guess is they will close the canal mid next week for the season. It took longer than normal.
