Starmer's resolve not to slavishly follow the US & stand 'shoulder-to-shoulder' with the aggressor will stand him in good stead. We haven't forgotten the weapons of mass destruction that led the UK into very unpopular war that scars the Blair premiership.

The move could mean a further easing of sanctions on Russian oil...which in turn could complicate efforts to punish Moscow for its war in Ukraine. Last week the US issued a temporary waiver allowing India to purchase certain Russian oil to help it cope with the loss of Middle Eastern supply.
