Lia and Trennt in 3rd, and I would have had them 2nd. I’ll also note he was controversially left off the Olympic team four years ago and seems to be handling the circus of the Olympics just fine, albeit he had about one-billionith of the pressure Ilia did.

Deanna Stellato, THEE 42-year-old pairs skater, is the scariest person in the sport (complimentary) and it’s not close. All pairs women are scary but she is the queen. She skates at #MilanoCortina2026 in about 12 hours. Words cannot encompass her.

Anybody know if there’s any chance Yuma might stick around another four years? Ilia’s said he is, but Yuma’s had more injuries. If, by some miracle, Ilia and Yuma and Mikail and Shun all skate another four yrs, we could see some epic men’s competitions.

I wonder if, like when Tracy Wilson and Rob McCall won bronze in 1988, it will be Piper & Paul’s performance that people remember most from this dance competition. (We can only hope.)

Indeed I feel like I’ve heard stories of both Lori Nichol and Sandra Bezoc steering certain skaters away from certain music choices b/c they “weren’t ready”; aka they didn’t have the skills to pull it off, which is doing the skater a favor rather than a program showing someone’s weaknesses.
Yup, and unless you’re a Yuma or a Patrick Chan or a Lu Chen, I think most skaters who try jazzy routines run into difficulty.
On the men’s short, count me among those who think Ilia deserves PCS marks in the 8’s, but not yet in the 9’s (though he can get there if he continues to improve which I expect he will.) Would have given best PCS to Yuma, Adam, Jun in that order. #figureskating #MilanoCortina2026
@st8ofsk8.bsky.social Kelli, I’m curious. One of the many reasons I’m so impressed by Yuma’s short is that I’ve long thought that jazz (or jazzy) music is the hardest to skate to. Only the very best can pull it off. As someone who writes a lot about skating music, do you agree?
