I still love living here. I’m just sounding off on an issue that I think would make things better.

What I’m used to:
Compulsory Voting
An elected upper house (proportional representation) which has almost as much power as the lower house
Preferential voting for lower house seats (number 1 to x)
Public funding allocated to the candidate you vote first
No campaigning within 50 metres of poll stn.

Okay, my point is that First-Past-The-Post is fucked.

And for the avoidance of doubt I don’t support Reform.

Whichever left party could best beat the Tories or whichever left party could best beat Reform was my attempted point.

I’d never vote for either the Tories or Reform. I’m not insane, nor cruel.

Yes, I’d just hate to enable Reform winning by voting for the ‘wrong’ left wing party.

I’m used to preferential voting in Australia, rather than this winner-takes-all system here.

I’d vote tactically for whichever left wing party could best beat the Tories or Reform, no question. I’d just kick myself if I got it wrong. 😑

I went to a different gym today, one in Leeds. Felt like a train station, put turned out to be an old public library and swimming pool. Nice touches!

Will have some time in the sun afterwards.

Oh dear. I’d vote Labour but this is why I detest the UK voting system. If this was Australia’s preferential voting system you could vote Green first and Labour second and know you hadn’t let Reform slip through.

Or for me Labour first and Green second etc.
